The product was new and unopened. Fit exactly to replace old garage door opener by Craftsman. The secret obviously is to check with Sears and make sure that the part fit by giving them the part number listed in the auction. My old garage door had a motion sensor that went on went you opened the door and never went off. You really don't need this feature. As soon as you open the garage door, the light goes on from the motor assembly above the door. If you need to turn the light on without opening the door, just use the the large circular button at the bottom left side of the remote. It's labeled "Light". Unfortunately your need to remember this because for some reason, it is labeled in the same color as the remote, Grey on Grey. I called Sears parts dept and they said that this is ... Really important to do this before ordering any Sears part, for the obvious reason you will be returning it because it is not an exact match. Two wires only needed to connect from the old console to the back of this unit. Use a small screw to depress the tabs to open the back or you might crack them off and then the case won't fit securely. Of course there is always Gorilla Glue because you should never need to open the back of this unit once you install it.

It works fine!
This control unit worked as it should with a bright green LED. My old unit had a dim LED and it was starting to fail. I hope I can get a few years out of this one. My only complaint was the dried latex paint that I had to scrape off of it to make it look good.

I had to replace my 10 year old control, the proximity sensor that controlled the light started to malfunction & the lights would stay on all night. This switch lacked that feature, but works just fine otherwise. The money I saved by buying this switch I used to buy a motion detector LED flood light to put up inside my garage. Now I have a switch that works, plus a really nice additional light that comes on as soon as I walk in the man door of my garage.I had to replace my 10 year old control, the proximity sensor that controlled the light started to malfunction & the lights would stay on all night. Craftsman Garage Door Wall Control Door Button - A Great Product and Price Bargain
I purchased this used Multi=-Function Door Control Wall Button and rate it as 5 Star. Although the product was used/refurbished, I installed it to replace my old Wall Button and it worked just as well as my old no-working Wall Button. Even more pleasing is this product cost me less than $25 which included shipping wherein a new Wall Button cost $145 based on my Google research.
