Synopsis
What do one hat and five elephants, a garden in the sky, and a mother's recipe box all have in common? They are all delightfully wise and witty chapters in blogger Marsha Palanci's new book, Tarte Tatin Tales. Part memoir and part cookbook, this collection of valuable life lessons is spun from memories of an American raised in France and Belgium, educated in Ohio, and nurtured through four decades working as wine marketer in New York City. Tarte Tatin Tales is also a cookbook that will inspire cooks of all levels. Filled with family favorites and an assortment of international recipes, it reflects Marsha's childhood in Europe, extensive travel in her adult years, and her careers promoting cheese and then wine. Marsha prides herself on making dishes that appear more complex than they really are. Fifty fully tested recipes ranging from Fresh Pea Gazpacho to Belgian Waterzooi to--of course--Tarte Tatin are easily made by anyone who loves to cook--and eat!, What do one hat and five elephants, a garden in the sky, and a mother's recipe box all have in common? They are all delightfully wise and witty chapters in blogger Marsha Palanci's new book, Tarte Tatin Tales. Part memoir and part cookbook, this collection of valuable life lessons is spun from memories of an American raised in France and Belgium, educated in Ohio, and nurtured through four decades working as wine marketer in New York City. Topics as diverse as surviving a first job, enjoying summer in the city, and sustaining lifelong friendships are explored with candor and enthusiasm. As she does in her weekly blog (tartetatintales.com), Marsha's own experiences are amplified with additional insights and opinions from a carefully curated group of friends. The crowd-sourced perspective gives the reader entertaining storytelling and much food for thought. Tarte Tatin Tales is also a cookbook that will inspire cooks of all levels. Filled with family favorites and an assortment of international recipes, it reflects Marsha's childhood in Europe, extensive travel in her adult years, and her careers promoting cheese and then wine. Although Marsha studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and in master classes with chef Giuliano Bugialli in Italy, she prides herself on making dishes that appear more complex than they really are. Fifty fully tested recipes ranging from Fresh Pea Gazpacho to Belgian Waterzooi to--of course--Tarte Tatin are easily made by anyone who loves to cook--and eat!

- b***r (756)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseI've bought a lot of online books from book sellers, and they've been in the condition described, but the flimsy packing has done some damage to several books. Waddle is the only Book Seller that sent this book in a box - and not only was the book in the great condition described, but it remained in that condition when I rec'vd it! 10-Stars!!!The Great American Recipe Cookbook: Regional Cuisine and Family Favorites from (#126065017074)
- a***0 (168)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThe book was sent in a plain plastic envelope without cardboard stiffners, nor outside marking saying "do not bend". The book arrived with a major crease of its spine. I contacted seller; sending him photos and he replied asking me to send the coloring book back to him with a tracking number and then he would reimburse me. Since the book only cost $10 and it would cost me another $5 and a trip to the Post Office, I decided to just throw it out in the dumpster. Disappointed in the seller.
