Sweet spot for a high quality small light digital camera

In the 1970s, I used an Olympus OM1 and 28 - 70 lens when backpacking and mountaineering. This is the first high quality digital camera I've found that competes with that old film (I shot Kodachrome 64) camera package, not only in the flexibility of focal length and quality and resolution of exposure, but also in physical size and weight. One with an electronic viewfinder as well as a rear screen. It is the combination of of a relatively large sensor (4/3) with a high quality (and therefore not that big range) zoom lens and electronic viewfinder that makes this camera perfectly match my needs... in some respects better than the similar Canon G7x and Sony Rx100 and other similar high quality but small, light, portable digital cameras. Pity it doesn't have a built in flash for ...

  • Automatic features with as much manual control as you want.

Very nice and versatile camera. This camera has the automatic features of a point-and-shoot with the ability to go manual on any of the controls. So you can have as much control as you want over the images. Great price as well.

  • Small camera with big features and quality.

The picture quality is amazing. There is a learning curve but, that is to be expected with a camera of this type. I highly recommend this camera for amateurs and pros alike.

  • Lovely camera.

I have the first version snd that took me months to get used to. This is not a good first camera but once you understand it’s quirks it will do what you want and produce lovely pictures. The screen doesn’t tilt but I use the Panasonic app to control my phone for discreet street shots and for difficult angles. It has an easy automatic mode for quick unplanned photos and lots of dials. Not truly pocketable it is compact solid and a lovely go anywhere camera. At $500 for lightly used the Mark 2 is a bargain. Better for stills than video.

  • The LX100M2 Best Money Spent

The image quality from the 4/3 sensor is excellent. The camera is compact enough that it's no issue to carry around. I use the camera strap and wear it around my neck. I love that is has full function control as well as full automatic. It allows me to set apertures from f1.7 to f16 along with shutter speeds from 1/4000 sec to 1 second and more. The image stabilization has allowed me to get that smoky water look with a waterfall with no tripod, just hand held which just amazes me. I have been acquiring 43mm filters to use which are also small enough that they're not noticed on my photo hiking but can make or break a photo if they're not with me. This camera is money well spent and will have no problem replacing a lot of DSLRs for folks tired of lugging around all that gear.
