    A great rehash

A somewhat shallow, yet still compelling synopsis of the history of American organized crime. Most of the facts here have been known and reported before, but it’s good to have everything basically “under one roof” here. A few items are new, like the real reason the mob called off the hit on Desi Arnaz over the controversy concerning his TV show “The Untouchables.” Overall, a good CliffsNotes treatment of a very complicated subject.
