A flour company produces a great cookbook using it’s fresh milled flour

Great resource for using grains in many baking recipe. Huge book !!! The grains used in this book are widely available and prices very reasonable for trying out the recipes. Will be making all my baked goods from scratch and of all the books I purchased for this endeavor, this book seems to be most complete covering different grains and flour with appropriate recipes. Like buckwheat for buckwheat pancakes. Great book highly recommend.

    Whole wheat sandwich bread

I only made one loaf but it fell and was so bad I put it in the trash. The recipe was called the holy grail 100% whole wheat bread. I went exactly by the book. The recipe said to bake it 35 min. and it was very sticky at that point. I wanted a good sandwich bread and it was a flop! I was very disappointed.😞 At this point I'm not sure it is a good book. I will try another recipe and see how it does.

  • Rave for King Arthur!

I bought this book as a gift for my Lady; here is what she has to say about it: "I received the King Arthur Whole grains Cookbook for Christmas and it is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It is filled with good advice on how to cook with whole grains as well as easy to follow recipes using commonly available ingredients. The book has gathered all the information that you could need to start cooking with whole grains and presented it in an appealing format. I have a lot of cookbooks, but find this one fascinating reading as well providing the basis for more healthful and tasty meals."

  • Best bread baking book I own!

If you've baked your share of bricks trying to bake whole grain simply by substituting whole wheat for white and maybe (eventually) trying a few tricks you picked up like adding more water and/or vital wheat gluten and STILL wound up with more bricks, this book is for you. Creative, wonderful bread recipes that have turned out perfect (for me) each time. I bake for my household and everyone has loved them and they actually rise! Simple things such as garlic, cinnamon and salt retarding yeast help so much. Orange juice to combat the acid taste of whole wheat. Ever want to bake with barley flour, but afraid of that brick you once turned out? Sick of rye breads that don't rise? Intimated by multi-grain, low-gluten recipes? This book has all your answers. I've baked breads, ...

  • King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking Cookbook

This is, by far, the best whole grains baking cookbook I have. If you want to bring more whole grains into your family's diet (and without them complaining), this is the cookbook to buy. Very informative about flours. Discovering white whole wheat flour was a real eye-opener. NO ONE ever notices the baked goods are whole wheat when I bake using this flour. Love the recipe for oatmeal whole wheat pancake mix...I keep some in my freezer at all times. Learn how to bake "whole wheat" without the it's too dry / bland / cardboard / I am eating sawdust taste. Wide variety of interesting recipes. I purchased four of these books - one for my husband and me; one for each of our daughters; and one for our rental condo. Great cookbook!
