About this product

Product Information

George Romero's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is a low-budget, homegrown classic that had great difficulty finding a distributor at the time of its release in 1968, and has since become one of the most influential horror films of all time. (Aside from its visceral impact years before realistic gore became the fashion, the film is also important for its portrayal of a black man as the protagonist during a time when race was an extremely sensitive issue in the United States.) The plot is simple: seven people secluded in a Pennsylvania farmhouse face relentless attacks by reanimated corpses seeking to eat their flesh. The group, which includes a married couple and their daughter, a pair of young lovers, and an African-American man, try to keep their sanity as the living dead keep trying to enter the house. Radio news reports tell of the plague taking over the eastern United States, while the ever-decreasing band of survivors rapidly loses ground in the battle to both keep peace with one another and stay alive.

  • The originator, and still one of the best

Night of the Living Dead I still enjoy watching this movie every now and then just to remind myself what started it all and how far we've come. Night of the Living Dead is amazing. It might feature some cheesy performances and very little special effects (it was the 60's) but George A. Romero took an idea and turned it into an instant classic. NotLD is Zombie horror at it's finest. Romero had a small budget and little special effects and he still managed to make one of the scariest movies ever made. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: If you're a horror fan this is a must buy. If you're just looking to see what all the fuss is about rent this one today. IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE. Thank you.

  • The zombie film that started it all

George Romero's cult classic about the dead coming back to life and feeding on the living is sure to frighten you. Filmed on a shoestring budget, in black and white and often using members of the crew to act as extras (zombies) during the filming; this film is the granddaddy of zombie films. By virtue of how it was filmed, including the liberal use of ketchup as blood, (in B&W it does look like blood), the film has often been given the "B film" status. This doesn't detract from the fact that the story is straight forward, the acting is passable, and the cinematography good. The events unfold over the course of an afternoon, into the evening and overnight through to the next morning. You can only hope that the gruesome zombies that make up this nightmare will all disappear with the ...
