Love my Smart Plug
I have two Amazon smart plugs. They are great. I use one on my coffee maker, lie in bed and just say, "Alexa, turn on the coffee maker." One on my bedroom light, so at night when I am going to bed I can turn the other lights in the house off and not stumble my way to a dark bedroom.

Not so smart plug
I installed these plugs and connected them via the Alexa app using the code and it was easy to connect. Unfortunately when I ask Alexa to turn on the first plug, she makes a nice sound but then proceeds to turn on my fireplace light. If I ask her to turn on the 2nd or 3rd plug, she promply says I cand find 2nd plug, check power etc. When I control the plug from the Alexa app, they all work flawlessly. I'm disappointed that Alexa is confusing the plug with another device, or can't find them, hence my 3 star rating. I was ablet to set up a routine so the plugs come on in the morning and turn off at night. Can't live without them!
Be careful because these things are addictive. I started with one and now have 4 plus I've started my daughter and parents in on them. When I come into a dark house now, I can just tell Alexa to turn on a specific light or I can say "wax on" which is my wax burner. I even had one attached to my Christmas tree so I didn't have to make sure I could reach the switch. I absolutely recommend these Smart Plugs but I would caution that you make sure it's an Amazon Smart Plug so you have no issues connecting to Alexa. Amazon Plug is Best for Amazon Echo...PERIOD!
This product is awesome and SO easy to set up if you have an Amazon Echo. I'm not saying other brands are not good and I have 2 myself but I just gave up on plug-in's that weren't Amazon since I have an Echo. With other brands, it gets into the weeds trying to find out how to link the plug with the Amazon Echo. You have to start new web apps on most and then linking the website to the Alexa App is difficult and it all gets crazy so even though there are cheaper plug-ins out there for Echo, I will gladly pay a few dollars more for an Amazon Plug than another brand because of the ease of operation both in locating the plug on the Alexa App and the simplicity of having to use just one app (Alexa) to control my Echo devices. Easiest plug to use with Alexa
This is the completely upgraded version of “The Clapper” for old folks. If your elderly family members do not have these, they along with a Echo device would make a great gift for them. I can turn on a light from a completely different location in the house so I do not have to walk into a dark room. I can also go into bedroom and turn off the lights in a different area of the house.
