Die Ware musste nachträglich verzollt werden.Zusatzkosten von 7,30 EUR fallen an. Es wird nur ein Bausatz geliefert ohne den dazugehörigen Schaltplan. Wie hoch ist die Spannung, die ich zusätzlich anlegen muss? Handelt es sich um eine AC oder DC Spannung? Die LED signalisiert nur die zusätzliche Stromquelle. Schaltet sich das Gerät ab, wenn die Ladeschlussspannung in der Batterie 14,4V-14,8V erreicht hat?

It works great for batteries not putting out as much power as they once did.
I used this desulfator on a 4 year old Panasonic car battery rated at 390 CCA / 20 Ahr. The battery according to my analyzer was only outputting 280 CCA even after being charge by two different smart charger/desulfators - CTEK 3300 and Optimate 4. Both chargers fully completed their charging/repair cycles multiple times without any marked improvement in the battery. I also put an equalize charge on the battery from an older manual charger without much permanent success. After doing some research on the subject I settled on this design. It's based on a Baker Aircraft version but needs a few tweaks to reach it's full potential- 1. C1 is a 100 uF 63V capacitor according to the original design. A 50V version was included in the kit. I replaced the 50V capacitor with a 100V as it would ... I used this desulfator on a 4 year old Panasonic car battery rated at 390 CCA / 20 Ahr. I replaced the 50V capacitor with a 100V as it would have a lower ESR which means a higher spike! 2. The small wires included were too small to move a lot of current and a fast rising spike so I replaced those with four 14 gauge wires. I kept the wires to 10 inches in length. 3. The alligator clips were too small for a car battery... replaced with battery clamps. 4. Installed the 12V Zenor diode 5. Laid L1 on it's side and fastened it down with some hot glue. I soldered a jumper from the board to one of the leads. There's no need for a heatsink on the transistor as it doesn't get warm. As for the AC adapter, I was able to use a small 12VDC 125 mA adapter and it does work however, the current draw from the circuit and the battery was higher as it drew the output voltage down to 10.3 VDC when connected. I had a few 12VAC adapters (500 mA and 1.25A) around so I added a simple bridged rectifier and a 1,000 uF capacitor so that the output would be converted to DC. Both of them resulted in a higher output voltage and provided the ability to slowly charge the battery as well (the 500mA was perfect as the output voltage was in the normal lead acid charging range of 14.4 volts while the 1.25A was about 1 volt higher). After leaving the desulfator with the 500 mA adapter connected to the battery (with it removed from the car) for 19 hours, I was able to recover much of the loss capacity of the battery! My analyzer recorded that the battery now can supply 361 CCA vs the 280 CCA that it was supplying before the desulfation. The internal resistance dropped by 2 mOhm as well.

Simple design built on a little known Barker Aircraft design
In researching desulfators, I came across this auction and decided to have a go as this design seems to be more robust than the other one found on e-bay. Through my research on the subject, I would suggest the following modifications as you build this: 1. According to the original design by Barker Aircraft, C1 should be rated for a least 63V as the spikes go to 60V. I was supplied with a 50V capacitor. I replaced mine with a 100V unit. The higher rated capacitor should cut down potential failures 2. If you do replace 100 uf (C1) capacitor, try to find a lower ESR one - the lower the ESR, the higher the voltage spike. When comparing the ESR of the supplied 50V capacitor and the 100V replacement, the 100V was 1/4 the ESR of the 50V. 3. Don't use the enclosed wire that connects to the ... The thicker the gauge, the higher the voltage spike. One forum thread stated that they found an increase of 10V just by going to the thicker gauge wire. 4. As another poster mentioned, the included inductor doesn't fit on the board as is. I decided to solder a small wire to one of the leads so that I can lay the inductor down on the board and then fastened it to the board with some hot glue. I just finished building it so I don't know how well it works. But I did do the AM radio test, and found that it does interfere with the radio when plugged in (which is what it's supposed to do) and I did measure a small increase in the battery voltage when the desulfator was connected and plugged in over the battery being at rest.
