Scottish writer-director David Kane (THIS YEAR'S LOVE) directs his sophomore effort, BORN ROMANTIC, a bittersweet comedic ensemble-piece about London lonelyhearts struggling with the quest for love. Jimmy (Adrian Lester) is a Brixton cab driver, who, along with a pair of nameless co-workers, (John Thomson and Ian Hart) offers philosophical musings and observations on love while ferrying a group of confused singles to and from a popular salsa club. Frankie (Craig Ferguson) is a Dean Martin wannabe looking to escape the sloping flat he shares with his angry ex-wife, while Eddie, a dimwitted thief, stumbles on the club when trying to outrun the police. Both men find themselves returning after meeting Eleanor (Olivia Williams), a cold, brutally blunt art historian to whom Frankie is drawn, and Jocelyn (Catherine McCormack), a nerdy, death-obsessed grave tender, who catches Eddie's fancy. Meanwhile, Fergus (David Morrissey) a failed rock & roller, begins a search for his long-lost love, Mo (Jane Horrocks), armed only with a list of her "likes"--Bloody Marys, rollerskating, and the British Museum--to help track her down. Featuring a uniformly strong cast, Kane's film is a comedy that truthfully examines urban loneliness and the difficulties of finding and keeping love.

    Born Romantic

    The story of romance from a man's point of view. The one thing they all had in common was percerverance. Nothing stopped them from winning the love of their lives, no matter how embarrassing. I had purchased I'll Be There with Craig Ferguson...loved it, and was curious if his other movies were as good. He was great, but so were the other male actors. Men ARE romantic !

    Well it's okay.

    This has to be the first film of Crieg Furguson's I wasn't really wild about. he does put on a fine performance, but except for the part of the cabbie I really wasn't that into the rest of the charitors. Not a bad film, but just not great to me.

    Born Romantic (2002, DVD)

    love Craig Ferguson so anything he's in I enjoy-this isn't 'gone with the wind' so I didn't rate it excellent! it's engaging-you don't want to skip any parts-it's sweetly comical in places-all in all a nice afternoons entertainment!
