The data moves over a front side bus moving at 1066 MHz, keeping pace with the needs of the CPU. The Core 2 Duo lives up to its name with its ability to execute multiple applications on each separate core. This makes it easy for you to work on relatively demanding workloads with confidence and efficiency. This T9550 raw velocity is improved by the presence of 6 megabytes of Level 2 Cache. This L2 cache is placed directly on the processing unit, improving read and write operation responses. Also included on the Core 2 Duo chip is level one quick-access random access memory. It delivers 2 by 32 kilobytes of instruction caches, plus another 2 by 32 kilobytes of write-back data caches. The T9550 Intel processing unit is capable of working with up to 8GB of internal system memory. This enables the use of virtual storage reservoirs during peak usage periods. Included in the Intel Core Duo package is a suite of ingenious Intel advanced technology application. Each one is carefully designed to enhance the impact of selected system resources. Intel Dynamic Acceleration Technology (IDA) is a design that works to ramp up the performance of the central processing unit. It does so when the T9550 system is dealing with single-threaded programs. By selectively increasing the operating frequency of either core unit, the other one is enabled to operate in low power mode. The Intel Core Duo chip also supports Enhanced Virus Protection. Also known as EVP, this program serves to shield you and your data from unwanted malicious intrusions. Many such viral programs invade computers by overrunning buffers with large blocks of text. If this text is allowed to enter program storage, it is often capable of hijacking control. EVP gives your operating system the power to mark suspicious program data entries and then block them. Another Intel Core Duo protection gem is called Virtualization tech. This is a T9550 suite of hardware designs that work overtime to enable top performance of virtualization applications. An example of this is the Virtualization option that allows you to make use of multiple operating systems simultaneously. When it comes to software development environments, this makes it easy to set up several operating systems on the same platform. Since the virtual machine habitat isn't dependent on host operating systems, security is greatly enhanced. Yet one more eminently useful Intel Core Duo protection technology is called Extended Memory 64. This is a group of program extensions that allows host CPU'S to perform with 64-bit power. Backing this up is another virus defense measure. The Intel Trusted Execution tech is a team of software designs that bring hardware-based security measures to the table. TXT works its Intel Core digital magic by sequestering sensitive RAM locations. By sealing away vulnerable parts of the storage system with encryption and other methods, yet another level of safety is achieved.

    Easy swap on my Inspiron

    The processor was a drop-in replacement for the T4400 in my old Inspiron. While not optimal because of firmware limitations, it has boosted memory access speed. On the inspiron this is a ten-minute swap. Remove the base plate, remove the heat sink, unlock the processor and remove it, clean off the old gunk from the heatsink and the processor if secondhand, clean off the blue rubber gunk from the GP chip and replace it with a 15mm square new piece, drop in the new processor and lock it into the socket, apply a rice-grain sized blob of heat transfer goop to the processor heat pad and replace the heatsink, replace the base plate and job done. Videos abound on the process, but you'll need a cleaning kit, heat transfer goop and the blue heat transfer electrically insulating rubber pad before ...

    A great upgrade

    This CPU arrived well-packaged in a clamshell case. The item itself was very clean without any leftover heatsink compound. I used this to upgrade a Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook computer and it greatly improved the performance. I can highly recommend this inexpensive CPU to anyone with a similar Dell system.
