    Super-Nice DVR.

    Superb DVR recorder that comes with Free Basic TIVO. Resolution is not HD, so don't expect that. TIVO Setup took longer than expected, the unit had to download a firmware update (done automatically) after the wifi was hooked up to the internet, then the unit was unplugged and restarted. Works flawlessly now. It's always better to buy a unit that was originally very expensive, you get dramatically higher quality. This one was $1200 new.

    My First and Best Experience with a DVR

    I bought the Pioneer 810H-S DVR with DVD Recorde becuase my wife wanted to record shows and watch then after she put the kids to bed. Anyone with young kids knows that you might catch every third word on the TV while the kids are attempting to get your attention in any possible maner. Anyway the biggest problem I had with getting a DVR is the monthly fee of $14-$20 and Tivo no longer sells lifetime subscriptions. After some research I found out that there are a few models that come with the lifetime service included with the equipment made in years past and the 810H-S is one of them. After buying it on EBAY used we got it in the mail and imidetaly after plugging it in the screen came up and was very easy and self intuitive to do the setup.     Pioneer DVR-810H

    Have 2 units. Love them. Hooked to Dish Networks Sat system. Have upgraded one to 500 gig hard drive. Units work flawlessly. Thousands of DVDs burned and no coasters. Can burn a DVD, record a channel, and watch a recorded program at the same time. Unit has FREE limited lifetime TIVO service. Unit is only 480i & p. Translated to mean mean is SD not HD. Running one unit on 42 inch HD LCD and other on 27 inch traditional tube. 42 inch reveals very minor loss of picture quality as digital sat signal is converted to standard DVD size. The burned DVD does not have same problem. Schedule is displayed in regular TIVO format, much better than non-TIVO DVR's that I have tried out. Overall, one awesome TIVO unit.     Pioneer 810h

    I love this unit. I love being able to record shows at the click of a button. Pausing live TV is fantastic, espescially with a loud family. The best part is that with this unit, the TIVO service is FREE. I had seen a basic TIVO system at a buddies house and liked how his worked so I decided to get one as well, except I wanted the capability to burn the shows I record to DVD's. Set-up on this unit was pretty easy. Overall this unit is AMAZING.

    No comparable item on the market like it today.

    I've owned a Pioneer DVR-810H-s since they first came out in 2004. I've always loved everything about it except for one thing. If the DVD burner goes out on it there's really not anything you can do to rectify the situation. Weaknees.com offers a service to repair it but the cost exceeds the price to buy another complete unit on Ebay. Pioneer stopped producing the DVR-810 some years ago and you can't order a replacement burner from them either. I now own 5 of these units with one having a bad DVD burner. Guess you can tell I'm really sold on this product.
