    mxr distortion lll

    first of all this is NOT a high gain device.i use it for a nice boost for leads in front of another unit i use for my rythym sound.it will also produce a great blues style overdrive alone.lots of output,unity gain is below 12:00 so you can blast your amps input if you desire.very amplike character with low noise,more gain than the "green" box.does not really change my sound just adds a little definition and clarifies fast passages when i kick it in(most times all knobs set around 12'oclock).well built and small,switches quietly and doesn't suck my tone.i like it.seems more like an overdrive to me than a distortion,lots of sustain and a great looking box to boot.if you like your sound but just need a little more sometimes,this might be what you are looking for.two thumbs up,try it out

    Great value for money and more versatile than I thought it would be.

    I bought the MXR M115 as I had heard good things about it. Keith Urban has it in his setup, and I use it a similar way ie I use it to warm the tone and give single coils a bit more body/warmth. I roll the distortion right off and use it as a boost. It stays on all the time. I have 3 pedal setups (large, small and a multi-effects unit) and I wanted one pedal to do what I use 2 for in the larger board (a Timmy and a Hotcake). I have set the larger board up for 2 separate effect chains ie one for single coils and one for humbuckers. I wanted a pedal for the smaller board that would work OK with both single coil and humbucker. It is not as transparaent as the Timmy, and not as warm as the Hotcake, but it does a good job of covering both areas in a single pedal space. With a humbucker it still ...

    Simple but versatile pedal

    Although the name of the pedal ‘distortion 3’ is deceptive, this is a great pedal. It’s more of a happy medium between overdrive and distortion. It’s a great sounding pedal that has a character of its own, not a clone. I use it primarily to push my amp harder on the crunch and sustain channels, but also great over a clean channel. The tone control actually works. It can sound very compressed but easily tweekable. I would recommend this pedal to anyone from blues to death metal. Very natural sounding disrtortion and not saturated. Love how it makes my rig so much more versatile!

    Exceptional price and sound quality!!

    Many years ago like 30 years, I used a MXR distortion and loved it. I decided recently to give this MXR distortion III and love it!! Much improvement and very easy to dial in the sound you want! For a basic pedal this really delivers and I would highly recommend this to anyone from amateur to pro looking for great distortion at a nominal price!!!

    good choice

    Warm, powerfull and very effective distortion, I use it more as a long crunch. Most people think that it's quite easy to find a good OD pedal, but in fact be very carefull about what you would like as a sound. I use a fender concert amp and a telecaster with hot rails II humbucker.
