The family man Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) is living the American Dream with his girlfriend Laura (Marisol Nichols) and their son Michael: they have a nice house, he has just raised a loan to make his company grow and they are going to get married. However their dream becomes a nightmare when Wade unintentionally kills a burglar that had broken into their house in the middle of the night on his lawn. He is put on trial and accepts a deal proposed by the prosecutor, being sentenced to three years in prison. During the transportation, there is an incident in the bus and Wade is framed and sent to the Security Housing Unit in Corcoran State Prison under the command of the corrupt Lieutenant Jackson (Harold Perrineau). His cell-mate John Smith (Val Kilmer) who was serving a life sentence after ... A Masterpiece- One of the best films I've seen in years
I do not have enough good things to say about Felon, other than it is an absolute masterpiece in every way. I could not take my eyes off of the screen until the credits started to roll. It is one of those movies that sticks with you long after watching it and makes you want to watch it again asap. The performances by all of the actors are extraordinary, especially Stephen Dorff as you watch him transform from a loving, protecting family man to a tough, shaved-head felon and also by Val Kilmer which I believe is the best performance of his career. There were times when I forgot I was watching a movie it is so good. This is a must-see for every movie fan, especially fans of The Shawshank Redemption and American History X. Best prison movie next to Shawshank and easily one of the best films ... I do not have enough good things to say about Felon, other than it is an absolute masterpiece in every way. my opinion on the movie (fellon)

Absolutely Awesome Movie
I just finished watching a friend's copy and was absolutely blown away at how good this movie was. I do not even recall it being in the theatres but after doing a little Googling I found out it was released the same weekend as the last Batman movie in July of this year. Unfortunately, for the cast because I'm sure this movie was lost in the shuffle amongst all the Batman mania. Now I find myself on Ebay no less to buy my own copy. This movie truly gave an inside hard core view of prison life and how a honest, hard-working, family man can find himself behind bars in the blink of an eye just for trying to do the RIGHT THING...Superb performances by Stephen Dorf and Val Kilmer. I almost didn't recognize Val...lol I will be recommending everyone to watch this one, it's a MUST HAVE for the ...
