    Good Monsters, Good Music!!

Not my favorite Jars of Clay CD, but Good Monsters is Good Music!! I like There is a River, and would like to have All My Tears played at my funeral. Dead Man and Work are also good!!

  • Good Monsters

Good Monsters, Jars Of Clay's 2006 release, is a superb collection of twelve songs. I feel the two strongest tracks are numbers one and two which set the CD off to an upbeat start. "Work" and "Dead Man (Carry Me)" in that order rank amongst my all time favorites from Jars of Clay. The title track "Good Monsters" is another highlight as well as "Mirrors & Smoke" which features Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer in a lovely duet. The rest of the CD is pretty low key and doesn't show as much energy, but the songs show wonderful musicianship none-the-less. Overall I really enjoy the album.

  • A good effort

I decided to buy this album when it was voted Album of the Year for 2006 by CCM Magazine. It is my second Jars of Clay album, but since the first was Redemption Songs (which was a bunch of old hymns remade), this was my first experience with Jars' own material. I like the album overall. I prefer the songs that have straightforward lyrics. Some of them are a little too strange for me. For example, exactly WHAT is he singing about on "Oh My God"? I guess he's trying to be poetic, but the meaning is too obscured for me. It sounds beautiful, but what does it mean? Anyways, Dead Man is an excellent song, as is Work and There is a River. Overall, I would recommend the album, I just wouldn't label it "Album of the Year" or anything vaulted like that.

  • Good Monsters-Excelllent CD

I bought this after hearing "There is a River" on the radio...that was the only song I had heard, and now I love this CD. This was the first Jars of Clay cd I bought, and I'm hooked. From the softly stirring and sorrow-filled sounds of "Oh My God" to the up-beat, passionate rejection of old lifestyles on "Dead Man", this CD is impressive. Even from a social standpoint, if you could somehow ignore the Christian foundation of this compelling album, you will be moved and will enjopy yourself all at once. I definitely recomend!!

  • Great CD!!!!
