Still a good watch in 2018, Bluetooth; call, text, Fitness. Removable SIM with stand-alone Cell Phone features
I was going to buy the Samsung Frontier but it had an integrated esim. The LG sport has a smaller battery. So I chose the LG Urbane 2nd, it has the Bluetooth cell & text functions or/and has a removable SIM and is capable as an independent stand-alone cell phone. In Bluetooth mode I can receive calls coming in to my cell phone and answer them on my watch, texts also, with no additional line charge. My watch battery can last 2 days with moderate medium use. You can choose to use a SIM also at the same time but the battery will drain faster. As with cell phones turn off all the functions you're not using and your battery last longer. I wanted a watch that can use a Sim for the USA and travel. I wanted a Sim with no monthly charge in my watch in USA. FreedomPop doesn't work, no APN setting, ... I was going to buy the Samsung Frontier but it had an integrated esim. The LG sport has a smaller battery. The only flaw that I have run into is the watch face isn't counting my steps, I have to go to the app to see how many, minor issue. The only weakness in quality is the watch band, I am gentle with mine and don't see it ever wearing out. They are expensive on eBay $68. and about $16 from China. With Bluetooth only on the battery last a long time . The battery is also available on eBay and China. I have never used my urbane on cell phone only mode for a day or two so I can't say for sure on battery life, but I think it'll still be about the same 2 days. I I ended up buying a sport as well , but I like my urbane 2nd more than my LG Sport. I bought a second urbane 2 for myself but my wife loved it and adopted it. I purchased one refurbished, one used both with great batteries, I purchased one with damaged band weaker battery in comparison but still good. My wife's cell phone stopped working when she was out of town, she just turned on her watch Sim and used her watch until she got her cellphone working again, that feature is invaluable. Final thought, One is none, 2 is 1... always being prepared.

Smartwatch technology - needs more technology!
This is a good example of where we are simply waiting on technology to improve, all of my issues are going to need a minaturising of electronics, better battery technology, better radio technologies. This is a standalone watch, you can leave the phone behind, but when you do it drains about 25%/hour so lasts about 4 hours. When near and tethered do your phone drains about 5% / hour so lasts over a day. The band with integrated antennae is structured to be uncomfortable and itchy, so you don't want to wear it for long. The LTE signal is weak, patchy, worse than any phone I have owned. Cannot see the display in strong sunshine. But, as this is going to receive Android Wear 2, look on the bright side, you can get a watch with these drawbacks and pay double for it - the LG Watch Sport for ... LG Urbane 2nd Ed. Glimpse of the future but still a work in progress
Currently there isn't an easy way to add/change APN settings without rooting. Though I have it working with Google Fi service ($15/month) send/receive voice calls only. SMS it sends but does not receive. This LG Urbane 2nd Ed. does send/receive SMS via Hangouts over WiFi only. For my purposes, this is good enough for my 7th grade son to wear as a smart watch, stand alone cell phone, fitness tracker for track/cross-country running. I would give more than 3 stars if battery life lasted longer and if SMS and Cellular Data were fully functional. You can get these functions working with full-price plans from Verizon, AT&T the down side is they require a paired full price cell phone too (so evil). Tried FreedomPop, but it did not work. Best Android watch so far
I have used several android watches. This is by far the best in terms of quality. My only negative is the magnetic charging cable. it is sometimes is difficult to get a good connection. It works great on android wear 2.0. After seeing it up, I have loaded standalone apps for messaging and email, etc. I can leave the phone home and off. Battery life in this mode can be a problem if it is used heavily for calls.I have used several android watches. This is by far the best in terms of quality. It looks good, eeven metallic. The bracelet could be better, it is not flexible and it cannot be changed with e.g. a leather one. Charging happens fast, but sometimes not at all, because the charging adapter must be placed very exactly. Android wear works fine with the phone, I am also positively amazed with the phone in the watch. It can really be used! I plan to acquire a bluetooth headset, it look a little Maxwell Smart when talking to the watch.It looks good, eeven metallic.
