Product Information

This realistic family film starring Sigourney Weaver and Emile Hirsch as a loving mother and son asks some deep questions about mortality, the risks of depression, and staying together verses splitting up. Living in a beautiful house in a manicured suburban neighborhood, the Travis family seems flawless at first glance. That is, until the handsome eldest son (Kip Pardue), a star swimmer, commits suicide, leaving the family in pieces. The father (Jeff Daniels), rejects the other members of the family, becoming distant and aloof. The college-student daughter (Michelle Williams), rarely visits home any more. The mother (Weaver), resorts to petty quibbles with her next-door neighbor (Deirdre O'Connell), and develops a minor--but highly amusing--marijuana habit. And the youngest son, Tim (Hirsch)--who is the protagonist and the real victim in the story--searches for meaning, identity, and solace from the chaos that surrounds him. Tim's best friend Kyle (Ryan Donowho) experiments with drugs and sex, providing for some understated and poignant coming-of-age situations. But for the most part, it is the chemistry between expert actors Weaver and Hirsch that carries the film, making IMAGINARY HEROES a lovely, sensitive meditation on the mid-life family crisis.

    Imaginary Heroes

    Imaginary Heroes was released to theaters in 2004, receiving several awards and nominations. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Emile Hirsch, and Jeff Daniels, this film will take you on an emotional roller coaster that the Travis family endures, following an event incomprehensible to them -- an event which will open locked doors and finally reveal the secrets that have haunted them for decades. Tragic, and funny, at times, you will become completely absorbed in this well acted movie of a struggling, dysfunctional family.

    Ordinary People Stoned Edition!!!!!!

    Kinda like ordinary People but with a bunch of pot smoking that compliments the plot,and then a hell of alot more that would make Cheech & Chong say we need more dialogue,less herb!!!If you played the movie/stoner game,every time you see people getting high on film you smoke,you would be eating munchies by the 4th scene and passed out by the half way point.Now Im not really complaining,Im all for more pot in films,they[films] should mirror society if that is relevant,but this is the kind of Scene per weed shot scene ratio,that makes Mary Jane users to look like goon-ed out couch surfers on the eternal quest for quality snacks.However if you dont play that fore-mentioned game and make it through the film,it's really a alright flick,if you were looking for more specific info on film,see ...

    Way better than expected!

    I really liked this film. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but the storyline kept my interest and it was very entertaining with light humor throughout. I love emotional dramas such as these. The main boy (Emile Hirsch) was simply amazing & makes you love his character. I love Sigourney Weaver and Jeff Daniels! Acting was intense at times and just an all around wonderful coming of age type of movie. Worth buying for sure!!

    The main character is my favorite actor of all time. he does such a great job portraying a kid at his age confused and peer pressured
