Another excellent book by JK Rowlings

As her seven Harry Potter & her Casual Vacancy books, this author is a master at creating the most interesting people and their behaviors. To me, her books are "the masterpiece theater" of the reading world. Love this mystery so glad there are more! ...The Silkworm and Career of Evil to follow. Also love how she used a mystery name as the author another little mystery...Little Ms Evelyn you are the master of entertainment.

  • Romance formula with a twist

Galbraith keeps several subplots working and twining with each other, all while giving us a romantic plot that ends in a surprise -- wounded hero who keeps his distance, beautiful secretary who is interested but engaged to someone else, Continuing discovery of new degrees of competence and ingenuity in the name of good old fashioned detective work. And several characters from London's fashion world who show unexpected levels of both shallowness and sensitivity. I was sorry to say goodbye to the lead characters when I finished the book.

  • A New Favorite Series.

Written by J.K. Rowling under the pen name Robert Galbraith, this has become a new favorite series for me. Cormoran Strike is an interesting and different protagonist. After the Dragon Tattoo series and Harry Potter, this has become my 3rd favorite series (unfortunately, it' s short series) of books.

  • JK Rowling: A Most Successful Mystery Writer

JK Rowling is an excellent writer. I read this book straight through - couldn't put it down. My only criticism is the language, which seemed unnecessarily crass, as though the writer were trying to match an idea of the murder mystery style. It was distracting and superfluous. She is an excellent mystery writer with consistent plot development and a sense of suspense without being too edgy. There are interesting references to the social context, and characters who seem genuine and complex, even when they weren't likable. The victim, particularly, was portrayed over time very effectively, showing her vulnerability and the weak points in here character that were an inevitable aspect of her circumstances, but which in no way played into her ultimate demise. It seems JK Rowling needed to write ...
