    Simply a masterpiece.

Simply a masterpiece of filmaking by William Freidken, the director of the Exorcist., this is a revisualization of the 50's classic 'Wages of Fear' a film depicting the dangers of transporting high explosives. This time in this re-imagining it's nitroglycerin. The stuff of dynamite. The film sets out with three criminals after avoiding capture by the police escape to South America where they have to take on a job, a very dangerous one, involving transporting nitroglycerin. A grueling adventure of trucks moving through a forbidding jungle with cinematography like no other movie or filmaker has ever attempted. I think it's one of the best movies ever made. With a cast that is exceptional for their daring and portrayals of hardened criminals and hard, rocky faced men who have to struggle to ...

  • Bad Title. Thrilling Movie.

This movie had the misfortune of being released around the same time as another movie was. You know, 1977's "Star Wars"! So "Sorcerer" was largely overlooked and forgotten. But I can assure you that if you purchase this DVD, this film will become one of your favorites, as it has been mine. Next to the chariot race in "Ben Hur," the suspension bridge scene is as equally exciting. Steve McQueen may have been the director's first choice for the lead role, but Roy Schneider could not have performed any better!

  • Resurrected Classic

Honestly, I could not add any more than what has been written by film historians, film critics and cinephiles about William Friedkin's all but forgotten, underrated classic of the 70's. Fortunately it has been recently resurrected in a restored print (4K) which I saw in 2014 in L.A. (I drove up from San Diego to see it.) More has been written about this film than Woddy Allen's "Annie Hall" which won the "best picture" Oscar for that year. Don't compare it this to Clouzot's own classic, "The Wages of Fear." Instead, watch "Sorcerer" on its own terms.

  • Blast From the Past!

I remember hearing the trailer for this movie when it first came out. It was my 1st exposure to Tangerine Dream. The music really makes the movie for me. I had not seen it since, so decades have passed and it is as I remember it. Always have been a Roy Scheider fan.
