X-Blades is an unflinching action game of fast-paced, choreographed combat strung along an animé-inspired storyline. The story follows a blade-wielding treasure-hunter named Ayumi, whose battle inhibitions are as scant as her outfits. Ayumi hacks, slashes, and shoots her way through nearly 40 color-saturated levels full of ancient secrets and vile demons, in a combo-driven style seemingly inspired by Devil May Cry or God of War. The game's combat system runs on rage: the more of it Ayumi has, the more special attacks and abilities she can perform. The easiest way to build up rage is slaying enemies. A different special power can be assigned to each of the main action buttons. In general, special powers are divided into the Light, which includes healing abilities, and the Dark, which includes the most devastating attacks. The game ends in one of two different ways, depending on the choices Ayumi makes.

Just beat the game today. This game was similar to Afro Samurai in regards to hacking and slashing except without the blood and gore. I would have not paid full price for this game when it was released. However, for a game that is under $20 this is a good game to buy. If you like hack-and-slash type games this a good game to have. You will have to use magic to defeat most of the bosses. Some parts can be frustrating and a bit long, but once you get an idea on how to get past a certain level everything else is pretty smooth. I liked the main chracter, Ayumi, however, the story is nothing special. Overall (my opinion), this is just one of those fun games you own/play to past the time.Just beat the game today. X-Blades offer action-packed enjoyment in fantastic Hack-and-Slash style. Using various weapons, spells and tactics, you must fight your way through many indoor and outdoor levels, killing hordes of monsters on the way. The story, exciting and rich in variety with numerous cut scenes not only motivates you, it also cleverly interlinks the individual levels. Besides the "normal" monsters, there are also "Monster Generators", which ceaselessly create new creatures (and of course powerful Boss opponents) for the game world. Hidden Power-ups and coins ensure that you are rewarded for exploring a level. Some locations can only be reached by bold and daring leap/jump combinations. It's an ok game to play
I like this game but that's as far as I went about it. The female is really hot but if thats all you are into then this game isn't for you. I got bored of this game very quickly. Just slashing monsters and building up your spells. Getting to point 1 to point to the best way you can. Usually most games that I really like have a stright forward attack. Just point and shoot. The games that I really like tend to be less of thought of where you should go. Even tho there is thought to it. This game how ever is all over the place, you really have to think on how to kill your enemy, which spells to use. And so on. I am not too Big on fantsy but sometimes its fun to play till I get bored. So if you are into spell's, unrealistic fantasy and want to really think.
