In Van Helsing, players travel to a familiar, 19th century fantasy land, on a mission to seek out and slay the most celebrated monstrosities the modern world has imagined. Though inspired by the obsessive vampire hunter in Bram Stoker's original Dracula novel, the Van Helsing character featured here is modeled on the hero of Universal Studios' contemporarily released feature film of the same name. The game loosely follows the plot of the movie, as Van Helsing ventures through an amalgamated, horror-story realm, where iconic monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and the Wolfman all await their turn challenge him.<br><br>In addition to these infamous enemies, Van Helsing will also face lesser-known foes as he makes his way through the game's missions, including the doting toady Igor, the volatile Jekyll and Hyde, and scores of less distinct bad guys and beasties. To help even the odds, the hero can obtain and equip as many as nine different weapons, including spinning "tojo" blades and dual pistols. Van Helsing can also use a grappling hook, not only as a weapon but to solve in-game puzzles and gain access to new areas. The fighting system in Van Helsing as been compared to that of Devil May Cry, featuring combination moves and dramatic killing blows, and often displaying the action from the set camera angles of a survival-horror-like environment.

Van Helsing for the origional Xbox.
The game is based on the new action horror blockbuster Van Helsing doesn't earn too many points for originality--but the same can probably be said of the movie. Likewise, the game can make for a pretty entertaining time if you don't go in expecting too much and just want a few hours of none-too-serious, gothic-styled action. This action adventure casts you as Hugh Jackman's titular character from the movie--a monster hunter with a mysterious past--and sends you through about a dozen levels filled with lots of "things that go bump in the night," as well as a few noteworthy boss opponents such as the Wolf Man, Frankenstein's monster, the sadistic Igor, Dracula's gargoylelike brides, and the vampire lord himself. In your battle against these foes, you'll use Van Helsing's various ... The action is fast and basically satisfying, resulting in what's a simple but fairly good game all around. Van Helsing the game doesn't include any full-motion video sequences from its cinematic counterpart, but it re-creates some sequences from the film in cutscenes using the game's 3D graphics engine. The main character does bear Hugh Jackman's voice and likeness, and the plot of the game mimics that of the movie. This is a linear, single-player action adventure game that primarily involves you fighting your way from one screen to the next by rapidly firing or swinging your weapons. Just like "Devil May Cry", Van Helsing affords you with no control over the game's camera angle, which automatically shifts perspective as you run through the game's environments. Sometimes the camera angles can be pretty awkward or even frustrating, such as when you find your character concealed behind a foreground object or so far in the background that it's difficult to distinguish your character from his enemies. However, this is more of an occasional nuisance than a real problem, since Van Helsing--who is such a skillful monster hunter and everything--can automatically aim at any foes in his vicinity as long as you press and hold the targeting button. One thing I really like with this game is something that you won´t find in to many games is that you can change weapon in the middle of a fight. All in all it is an entertaining game that will let you forget a couple of hours with ease...

Slow delivery worth it
While the game took a lot longer to get here than predicted. I'm happy to say it's a very enjoyable game. It's basically a copy of dmc but in van helsing.

Game doesn't like to work
Its a used game so I didnt expect much and that's what I got as it said the game was tested but it seems to work about 1/4th of the time I try it.

To be Average or Not to Be average
This game is not to bad play not great either. This came does have some awful camera angles which can jeopardize you in certain instances which can get very annoying. The story line is not the best but not to bad. The controller set up is standard with most other third person shooter games. You should only buy this game if you like vampire games or if your a hardcore gamer and want something new to beat. But you must have patience at times so beware if you have no patience do not get this game.This game is not to bad play not great either. I love the game because its fun to play. It keeps your eyes hooked to the t.v. Hugh Jackman Richard Roxburgh are wonderful in the game as their movie persnas. I haven't stopped playing it. I'm hooked on the game. I give it a 100%. I would reccmend the game to any fan of Vasn Helsing. I also give the game 2 thumbs up.
