Diese DVD habe ich über ebay-USA, in einer vorbildlichen und reibungslosen Abwicklung, erworben. Den Verkäufer kann ich nur weiterempfehlen. Bevor ich näher auf die Inhalte eingehe, möchte ich kurz etwas zur Abspielfähigkeit der DVD sagen. - Da die DVD wie bereits erwähnt aus den USA stammt ist sie dementsprechend auch codiert. Um die DVD am Fernseher über den heimischen DVD-Player ansehen zu können, muss dieser die Länder-Codierung der USA unterstützen. PAL-M müsste das sein?! - Das abspielen am PC unter Windows XP funktioniert dagegen problemlos. Ach ja, die Sprache ist natürlich komplett englisch, ohne Untertitelfunktion. Zum Inhalt: die DVD "Africa Unite" ist anlässlich des 60. Geburtstags von Reggae-Legende Bob Marley, unter dessen Haus-Label Tuff Gong, im Februar 2008, erschienen. ... Wer hier ein pures Reggae-Concert erwartet wird enttäuscht sein. Vielmehr geht es in Africa Unite um die Vision Bob Marleys, eines vereinten Africas. Also eine Dokumentation. Die Musik kommt aber dennoch nicht zu kurz. Dafür sorgt ein umfassendes Bonusmaterial, das alle Concert-Songs noch einmal aufgreift. Hauptschauplazt des Concertes, anlässlich Bob Marleys 60. Geburtstag ist Ethiopien. Das Herkunftsland von Kaiser Helai Selasie I., der Bob Marleys politisch, musikalischen Tatendrang entscheident mit beeinflusst hat und für viele Afikaner der "Erlöser" bedeutet. Im Vordergrund dieser Dokumentation steht Bob Marleys Version, eines vereinten Africa. Aus diesem Anlass wirkte die UNICEF mit und lud jugendliche Studenten aus allen Teilen Africas, sowie Professoren und Gelehrte sowie als UNICEF-Botschafter den amerikanischen Schauspieler Danny Glover und die Marley Family (Ziggy Marley und Geschwister, Rita Marley und Cedella Booker, Mutter von Bob Marley und viele, viele mehr) zu angeregten Diskussions-Runden, hinsichtlich der Version eines vereinten Africas ein. Die Dokumentation schwenkt zwischen dem politischen und musikalischen Lebenswerk von Bob Marley, den Diskussions-Runden, über die Begleitung der Marley-Family auf Ihrer Reise nach und durch Ethiopien, sowie der Begleitung eines jamaikanischen Rastaman auf dem Weg nach Ethiophien; zeitgeschichtliche Dokumentationen über die Lage Africas in den 60er und 70er Jahren und natürlich den Highlights des abschließenden Musik-Concertes. Wer immer noch glaubt, der Reggae mit Ur-Legende Bob Marley, sei nur leichtes Beiwerk entspannter Rauchathmosphäre, der wird hier in jedem Fall eines besseren belehrt. Der Reggae ist eine Bewegung mit ungeheuerer Kraft und Einfluss, der, wie diese DVD zeigt, einen riesigen Anhang findet. Nicht alleine wegen der doch sehr gefälligen Musik, vielmehr wegen seiner Botschaft, der Milliarden von Menschen Halt, Stärke und zuversicht gibt. Vor allem Visionen, für die es lohnt sich zu erheben, getragen vom Geiste Bob Marleys- seiner Version eiens "Africa Unite" und einer friedlichen, multikulturellen Welt. Fazit: anschauen!!! - -Diese DVD zeigt, dass die Version von Africa Unite nicht nur eine Momentaufnahme der 70er & 80er Jahre war, sondern dass Sie heute präsenter denn je ist. Musikalisch: zunehmend gewinnt der Reggae (wieder) in der heutigen Pop-Szene an einfluß. Vor allem im Hip-Hop. Nicht zuletzt unter starker Mitwirkung der Marley Family. Und das ist auch gut so...!

I LOVE THE POSITIVE INFORMATION AND MESSAGE THAT ARE CONVEYED IN THE DOCUMENTARY. THE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES WERE INCREDIBLE.
