About this product

Product Information

Like earlier games in The Elder Scrolls line, Oblivion is designed to present a living fantasy world that gamers experience on their own terms. The game is populated with over 1,000 NPCs, each leading a full life, following regular schedules according to their individual wants, needs, and positions. Players are encouraged to interact in the world as they choose, as noble heroes, greedy villains, or anything in between. The game's main story is designed to conform to characters of any moral bent, and plenty of side-missions provide extra adventuring for all.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- Game of the Year Edition includes the original version of The Elder Scrolls IV as well as the Shivering Isles, which was previously unavailable on the PS3.

This is STILL... Perhaps the best and most immersive game of all time... And probably will continue to be...

Oblivion, is simply the most detailed, immersive, diverse, and most Massively LARGE game ever made. I absolutely loved Skyrim. Despite Skyrim being rated slightly higher on a few sites, Oblivion is clearly more detailed in may ways. Loving both, Skyrim now seems like a somewhat dumbed down, or simplified version of Oblivion. Maybe Skyrim was made for a more "universal" or broader audience. Oblivion is MUCH LESS repetitive in replay and visual panoramas. It is amazing the diversity that unfolds as Oblivion progresses. Skyrim, although an incredible game, starts to recycle scenery and characters early. It also seems to be repetitive in character development. My advice: Buy them both.... For around 10 bucks each, They are both masterpieces, but Oblivion is the fine wine of the RPG world. Save ...

  • accurate title

the game is loads of fun. it has some oddball quirks that can be annoying. You have to be very careful not to steal something when you try to talk to someone. Also, if you stay at an inn, and sit at a table, the food in front of you is not for you, i found that out the hard way. you also have to be careful during combat. It is too easy to switch into sneak mode, which slows you down if you try to move to a more advantageous spot and it is too easy to switch to close perspective and you can lose control of where your opponents are. the rest of the game is fun. The graphics are great. The stroyine right now is deep and I have a ton of things to do in it that I can do any way I choose. There seems to be an unlimited number of ways you can run a character, some who specialize in ...

  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion-Game of the Year Edition

This was my first experience playing the Elder Scrolls series and for the most part it was an extremely enjoyable game. This game is like a first person shooter without guns...but you do get a bow and arrow if you choose. I will explain some of the good and some of the bad points about it. The strongest point of Oblivion is the sheer magnitude of the landscape and the ability to search and do anything you want. In all honesty if you explore every cave and every fort and complete every quest on the map it can take you near or past 200 or more hours!! I loved this part of the game as it kept me wanting to find new things for days. Also of note in the Game of the Year Edition (GOTY) you get an additional map AND quests that can add nearly 20 more hours of game play! So if you are ...

  • Oblivion - GOTY Edition. As expected from Bethedsa

The game plays much like many titles from this same company. The expansive world, the free roaming non-linear gameplay all add to the feel of something big. The game has so many aspects and ways to play, that hardly any two people, playing their tendencies in such RPG's will end up the same way. The progression of growth makes sense, in how that the more skills are used, the more they gain, much like how practice makes perfect. There are a few ways that this system can be easily exploited to keep the game easy for the player. So far, I'm fond of the game and don't mind devoting an hour of time to accomplish a grandiose quest.

  • Good but 360 Version has extras

All in all this is a excellent game! I had this game on 360 and sold my system. I now have it for PS3. Graphics are excellent, looks the same as the 360. Gameplay is the same as well. The difference is the 360 version, as well as PC version, has some extra downloadable things that the PS3 doesn't. Examples are the Wizard's Tower. Not included in the PS3. As well as Tomes, a few other items, the pirates cove and a couple of quests. If you never played the 360 or PC versions with the downloads, then you won't even know what I'm talking about and it is still a great game. Also, the PS version does not have trophies for this game and the 360 version had achievements. Again, all in all a great game and I still recommend this game. Has hours upon hours of great gameplay. If you beat ...
