About this product

Product Information

In Prototype, you take control of an amnesiac man named Alex Mercer. After waking up with abilities that exceed a normal human, Alex finds himself on the run. Both the military and a group calling itself Blackwatch are after Alex and his extraordinary powers. Throughout this 15-hour adventure, you will make new allies and uncover your past. Prototype was developed by Radical Entertainment, and its release date was June 9, 2009, for the PlayStation 3 by Activision. Prototype for the PS3 title is an open-world game. The game takes place in New York City, and the city is recreated in stunning detail. If you have been to Manhattan Island, you will likely recognize some areas throughout this game. Players take control of Alex using a third-person camera, and this view allows you see everything around Mercer at all times. Everything in the world of Prototype for the PS3 is traversable with Mercer spending most of his time jumping from rooftop to rooftop. His new powers let him run at extreme speeds, automatically hopping over objects in his path, and he can leap incredible distances, hurtling over small buildings with ease. Alex Mercer also takes no damage from falling, even from 40-story buildings. While Mercer can run from his enemies quickly, he can also blend into crowds. One of his notable powers is the ability to shape-shift into another character, which you will use in various ways over the course of this PlayStation game. You will want to be careful while using this feature, as using any of Mercer's other abilities will immediately break his disguise. Eventually, players will have to fight their way out of a situation. Whether it is against the military or infected civilians, more 50 percent of this PS3 game is combat. Luckily for gamers, Mercer has plenty of combat moves at his disposal, as he can use his shape-shifting ability to turn parts of his body into a weapon, such as a giant blade to slice his foes in half. He can also drop from tall buildings and deliver a devastating shockwave attack to take out multiple enemies at one time. Mercer can pilot tanks and wield firearms, including rocket launchers and assault rifles. When you find yourself surrounded by enemies, it would be a great time to pull out a maneuver called Devastator. With the press of a button, these attacks annihilate all enemies on the screen. For example, one Devastator launches humongous spikes from the ground to impale any characters nearby. Prototype for the PS3 console is full of optional quests and gameplay modes, such as the Events mode, which lets you compete for medals. Getting gold medals in any of these side quests will reward you with experience points you can use to level-up Mercer. This title for the PlayStation 3 receives a rating of M for Mature due to the game's blood, gore, and intense violence. If you are looking for an open-world game that lets you unleash your inner beast, Prototype for the PS3 would be an enjoyable game for you.

Wish it would've shipped in a bubble envelope instead of a paper one, but it arrived as described at a very low price, so I can't really complain. A+ Seller. Cheers!

  • Prototype is a very violent and chaotic anti-hero game

Pros: -In Prototype you wield many destructive and diverse powers and moves. Some of the powers can shape-shift your body, while others improve your mobility. You can purchase various upgrades using the evolution points that you obtain through killing enemies and doing missions. The upgrades are very numerous. -Tanks and helicopters can both be piloted and you can also use different firearms. -Your mobility within the game world is amazing, you can run up the side of the buildings or glide between rooftops. -Various objects can be picked up and thrown as projectiles. Very few games allow you to pick up a car run up the building and throw it from the roof top. -The graphics in the game are solid and its impressive how the frame rate holds up despite all the action on screen. The pedestrians ...

  • Great game

Prototype is an excellent game. If you enjoy free roaming games such as Grand Theft Auto, you'll love Prototype. You play as Alex Mercer, in a city ravaged by an infection, and military soldiers roaming everywhere.. Helicopters in the sky, tanks on the ground.. And guess what? You have super powers, and you're pretty much invincible. Form your arm into a blade, or a giant fist.. Or maybe you feel like you want to play with a bladed whip.. Go for it! I recommend this game, for the fact of the free roaming gameplay, fun to kill everything in sight, and the story is pretty decent. Only things I found wrong, was the story was a bit short.. I beat it in two or three days. And the city is a bit small.. Sure, it's Manhattan, and Manhattan is pretty big. But since you can jump 40 or more feet, ...

  • Open-world madness done right

Prototype is a mildly flawed yet superbly entertaining experience. The plot is wonderfully presented and the apocalyptic tone throughout the game is expertly done. The many powers that Alex Mercer learns are very fun to use, especially on the poor little civilians. The learning curve is perfect; Prototype is very challenging but never left me feeling helpless. Unfortunately the game could have used better control mechanics with regards to the aerial movements; I often found myself air-dashing back and forth trying to land on a mission marker. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the Prototype carnage and highly recommend this game to anyone looking to play a horror-themed, open-world game that won't disappoint.

its a good game i bought a second game for my friendAt the outset, Mercer is a much easier character to control than he is to understand. Making giant leaps, gliding through the air, and even running up the sides of skyscrapers are effortless actions. You could probably make it from one end of Manhattan to the other in a straight line using nothing more than the sprint button if you really wanted to, since it's the only one you need to scale buildings, barge through crowds, and overcome obstacles like cars and rooftop air-conditioning units parkour-style. No fall will ever hurt you, no obstacle is impassable, and there are very few enemies who can keep up with you when you're at full clip. Combat is also relatively simple early on, but as you progress and learn more about who and what ...
