About this product

Product Information

The 1985 Japanese anime series starring 40-foot transformable vessels called mecha comes to next-generation systems as a third-person shooter blending cel-shaded 3D graphics and hand-painted 2D special effects. Instead of solely taking place in the far reaches of space, the game has players flying, shooting, and transforming their crafts over hills, across canyons, and through cities while completing various missions on Earth. Players pilot a Veritech Fighter with the ability to morph into the following three combat modes at any time: Battloid, Guardian, and Fighter.

Each combat mode has advantages and disadvantages depending on the situation. Battloid mode, for example, gives pilots the ability to shoot down missiles, while pilots in Guardian mode can pick up and drop items. Fighter mode features slower turning movement but offers the most powerful missiles. As players progress through the game, they will be able to acquire four additional types of Veritechs, earn paint schemes, and meet up with such anime characters as Rick Hunter, Lynn Minmei, Ray Fokker, and Lisa Hayes.

Three modes of play include Training, Story Mode, and Versus. Story Mode follows the path of a skilled Veritech pilot named Jack Archer. As Archer, players embark on a series of missions in the Robotech Defense Force's ongoing effort to protect Earth from a Zentraedi alien invasion. Training consists of three missions focusing on the three combat modes available to pilots, while Versus is a head-to-head showdown against a friend on one of eight unlockable battlefields. Robotech: Battlecry features voice work from seven of the anime's original actors, whose interviews are also available as a special feature in the options menu.

    Nostalgic game for me

Love this game and love the anime since I was a kid. Lost this game in a home fire and now I was about to start collecting all the games I own when ps2 came out, this was one of my favorite game to play back then. Going to Keep this game for a long time.

  • Robotech: Battlecry (PlayStation 2)

This is a decent solid game for the PS2; however if your not a die-hard fan of Robotech your most likely not to fully enjoy this game. The graphics are reminiscent of the original TV series and look absolutely great right down the the laser beams, explosions, and smoke. The attention to detail is good, all fighter models are true to the series as are your enemies. Gameplay leaves something to be desired. The controls are a little clunky especially in ger-walk (guardian) mode. You are not able to reposition the camera which would be a valuable asset to the playability of that mode. Fighter mode is pretty straight forward however I am disappointed at the inability to control your air-speed beyond fast and really fast. Battloid mode the very solid the controls take a little getting used to ...

  • Good Robotech game only

I am a Macross fan rather than robotech. However, since they are about the same story, I figure I'd give this game a try. The game itself is fairly repetitive. Most of the missions are the defend the convoy kind. I don't know why that's the case, probably makes the game a lot easier to design. AI aren't very impressive, most of the enemy either keep shooting at you or just concentrate on the target they are assigned to. Worst of all, the game will have clitches where the computer will repeat the same command over and over again. You will not recognize most of the characters most of the time. Heroes of the anime comes out every once in a while. With all the problems, I still think it's the best Robotech game out there. Each mode (fighter, gerwalk, battleroid) all has its own ...

  • Great game if you love the series

The game, at first, follows closely to the Macross saga. Defending the Macross during the Zentradi invasion is amongst my favorite levels, however easy they may be. However, from there on, the game takes a turn into a fantasy story line. Many of the games attributes are great, however the AI could be a bit smarter. In some levels, however, its only possible to beat through pure luck (Cats Eye). Otherwise, its a solid buy, and a great game.

  • Great game

This is always a good game to play if you're in to robotech series it's like playing the actual cartoon anime, thanks.
