Gerade im medizinischen Bereich ist eine verstandliche Sprache unumganglich, da jeder medizinische Eingriff eine Koerperverletzung darstellt und deshalb die Zustimmung der Patientin oder des Patienten verlangt. Die praoperative Aufklarung und Information von Patientinnen und Patienten ist deshalb eine wichtige Bedingung fur jede arztliche Behandlung und stellt in OEsterreich eine Bringschuld fur die AErztin bzw. den Arzt dar. Wenn es zu einem Gerichtsprozess kommt, sind die Richterinnen und Richter oft von Informationen der Patientinnen und Patienten abhangig, auch deshalb, weil oft die arztliche Dokumentation fehlt. Hierbei geht die Rechtsprechung allgemein von verstandigen Patientinnen oder verstandigen Patienten aus. Es wird allerdings auch gesehen, dass es diese nicht wirklich gibt und deshalb auch von den Patientinnen und Patienten eine Mitverantwortung verlangt werden kann. Im Allgemeinen ist es weithin bekannt, dass es fast unmoeglich ist, sich an Informationen im Detail uber einen langeren Zeitraum zu erinnern. Viele empirische Studien haben daher die Qualitat multimedialer Information als wesentlichen Punkt der Qualitatssicherung in der Kommunikation vor dem persoenlichen Gesprach zwischen AErztin bzw. Arzt und Patientin bzw. Patient erkannt. Die vorliegende Studie beschaftigt sich mit der Problematik der Kommunikation bei der Behandlung in Krankenhausern. Es wurde ein multimediales, mehrsprachiges Tablet-System entwickelt, um die Papierfrageboegen zu ersetzen. Die Studie basiert zunachst auf einer umfassenden Literaturrecherche zum Thema Kommunikation zwischen AErztinnen und AErzten einerseits und Patientinnen und Patienten andererseits. Es wird uberdies die Problematik der Entwicklung einer Software als Medizinprodukt behandelt. Das Tablet-System selbst wurde im Rahmen einer Diplomarbeit an der HTBLA Grieskirchen entwickelt. Die Studie wird abgerundet durch eine Stake Holder Befragung, die sowohl AErztinnen und AErzte als auch moegliche Patientinnen und Patient
