About this product

Product Information

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Essentials creeps its way onto PSP in an espionage adventure that touches upon Sam Fisher's entire career, from his time as a Navy SEAL to the death of his daughter, fleshing out the storylines in each console game in the process. The viewpoint is similar to the console versions, with players controlling Fisher from a third-person perspective in a variety of outdoor and indoor 3D environments, some of which include levels introduced in earlier games. The handheld title runs on a modified version of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow's graphic engine on PS2, incorporating such trademark effects as real-time lighting.

Fisher on PSP can still jump, crouch, pick up bodies, and throw cans or bottles to create a distraction, and he's once again outfitted with an assortment of sophisticated technology. Players can use night vision goggles, a sniper rifle, grenades, and other tools of the clandestine trade as they sneak across nine levels to complete multiple objectives. Features designed specifically for the handheld include a more streamlined control interface, the ability to save progress at any time, and Wi-Fi support for local multiplayer matches with adjustable options that include game length, map type, and the number of kills required to win.

    Splinter Cell PSP game

Game works, packaging AOK & booklet provided , just as advertised. thx. One of my all time favorite games is Splinter Cell. Essentials was only game not played so decided to get this even though I don't touch my PSP, but now I have the game bought at a great price.

    Horrible

Game is broken . Period . Why sell a broken game . No I'm not sending it back because I shouldn't have to go all out my way just to fix a problem that's shouldn't have been a problem. Simple request. Couldn't fulfill.

  • Could have been a champion!!

The premise of the storyline was good. The graphics are good. The gameplay is great. Trust you me there is nothing I enjoy more than sitting in an almost completely invisible position, taking aim on on an unsuspecting enemy and quietly turning his lights out and hearing his body hit the ground!! (Yes I am in therapy, ok) But, with that in mind the game is very dark, so you play almost the entire game with your night vision goggles on. The controls are slightly difficult, but if you are a fan of Splinter Cell titles you should already know that they are never easy. Finally, my biggest problem with this game is that it is just too short!! I took it down in less than 4 hours total gameplay. I enjoyed this game I just wish it was a little more intense than it is, but its worth a twirl.

  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Essentials (PSP)

I bought Splinter Cell Essentials because I loved all the other Splinter Cell games. It is for PSP so you can play the game anywhere! The graphics are good and you still know all the stealth moves as in the PS2 Splinter Cell games. There are a couple new weapons too. The camera system was bad because you had to hold the O button and turn the camera with the analog stick. This made looking around a room hard plus combat was tougher with the camera system. Nonetheless, it's a good game and and Splinter Cell fan should get this game. (Of, course you need a PSP!)

  • Splinter Cell Essentials keeps it coming

I guess it would be a little biased for me to be writing this review since I have been a Tom Clancey fan for as long as I can remember. I have read most of his novels and seen their screen adaptations and must add, you cant cram everything in a book into a movie. Splinter Cell Essentials captures the four preceding games into Essentials with some scenes being familiar but with a different game play. Playing the game on PSP proves to be a little difficult to master after the first four games were released on PS2. The controls were something to get used to but once the just of it has been mastered, the movements, selection of weapons and execution of manoeuvres became as fluid as using the PS2 joystick. Sam Fisher, being on the run, tries to figure out what has happened. There seem to be ...
