With 2009’s THE PINK PANTHER 2, Steve Martin once again dons the mantle of the giddily absurd Inspector Clouseau. This time, the bumbling French lawman, relieved of meter-maid duty, attempts to track down a bold thief known as the Tornado, who makes off with many of the world’s cultural treasures, including the Magna Carta, the Shroud of Turin, and, of course, the Pink Panther Diamond. Aiding Clouseau is a team of international investigators, most notably a Brit (Alfred Molina) and an Italian (Andy Garcia), all of whom get to marvel at his unfiltered silliness. While this second installment of the PINK PANTHER series reboot features some changes to the creative team, with director Harald Zwart (AGENT CODY BANKS) replacing Shawn Levy and John Cleese stepping in for Kevin Kline as the sourpuss Chief Inspector Dreyfus, the movie reunites Martin with the always-likeable actors Jean Reno and Emily Mortimer. Also joining the ensemble cast are Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jeremy Irons, and Martin’s old comrade Lily Tomlin, making this sequel quite crowded with top-notch talent. Though the film itself doesn’t live up to its potential--the Clouseau role is still securely owned by the late, great Peter Sellers--it offers up plenty of chuckle-inducing moments as Martin hams it up with grand mispronunciations and gleeful slapstick.

    Beats Panther 1

    This second effort by Steve Martin is by far better than his first try at the Pink Panther series. The first was ok, considering some of the bad previous efforts by others...like the absolutely horrible Curse of the Pink Panther. while Martin isn't Petter Sellers, he does bring his own sense of comedy into play and overall it works quite well. There is an effort to clean up some of the politically incorrect parts of Seller's original character, the racism, sexism etc...not sure if that was necessary but it was done in a somewhat humorous fashion. Good fun and nice to see the series get a second wind.

    Pink Panther 2 - Worth the price of admission

    Steve Martin (Cheaper by the Dozen, Sgt. Bilko and many more) is back in action as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau. In this second installment in the Steve Martin versions, the Tornado is stealing precious works of art from around the world and a 'Dream Team' is being assembled to track down the Tornado and to keep him from stealing the Pink Panther Diamond. Some of the other actors in the film include: Andy Garcia, Emily Mortimer, Jean Reno, Jeremy Irons, John Cleese, and Lily Tomlin. The movie is filled by the less than coordinated inspectors antics and at times is quite funny. Steve Martin has always been a 'wild and crazy guy' and I recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good laugh and entertainment. Rated 5 of 5 for a good performance by a great actor and comedian.

    Steve Martin does Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau!!

    Haviing seen al the original Pink Panther Movies and now the remake one realizes that Steve Martin still has the Comedic Genius inside of him that makes his version of the bumbling Chief Inspector Clouseau his own....Peter Sellers must be smiling in his grave as Steve Martin has pulled off the character flawlessly.....One hopes that they continue with the series as Pink Panther fans of the Blake films now have a modern version just as funny as the originals...
