The latest Dynasty Warriors in the series
If you're a fan or big fan of Dynasty Warriors, #5 is the most polished in the series as of yet. Same one man (or woman) army action as in the previous games, combined with a new semi-tactical "base control" system where you capture enemy bases to gain bonuses and deprive your enemy of those same bonuses, or try and prevent your enemy from capturing your own bases. This adds a little bit more strategy to the run and hack formula + occaisional duel gameplay of the previous games, which is nice, but it's nothing on the level of the more complicated territory control/supply lines system in the Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires and Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires (for the PS2 and X-Box 360 only, unfortunately; not for the original X-box) has. As might be expected, Dynasty Warriors 5 has a handful of ... If you're a fan or big fan of Dynasty Warriors, #5 is the most polished in the series as of yet. As might be expected, Dynasty Warriors 5 has a handful of new characters for each Army, and one independant one: Xing Cai (Zhang Fei's daughter) and Guan Ping (Guan Yu's son) for the Shu forces, Ling Tong (A sarcasting young martial artist) for Wu, and Cao Pi (Cao Cao's son) and Pang De (A determined general who once worked for Ma Chao) for Wei, and the card-throwing semi-historical mystic Zuo Ci. All of these new characters (as well as all of the older ones) have a unique Musou (Story-Driven Campaign) mode, with a unique, high quality pre-rendered ending movie for each character. This is a change from Dynasty Warriors 4, which only had one Musou for each Empire/Faction, and something most fans would consider a positive one. Also, the weapon level-up system from Dynasty Warriors 4 has been replaced with the old "finding random weapons on the battlefield" system from the previous games. A big thing to note for language purists is that unlike in the PS2 version of thi game, the X-Box version has a -=Japanese language option for the voice acting, with subtitles=- Also, due to its more powerful hardware and the presence of a hard drive, the X-box version has better graphics and faster load times than the PS2 version of this game as well. All in all, Dynasty Warriors 5 for the X-box is a good game, although not a great one, which rolls back some of the less popular innovations of the previous title (Dynasty Warriors 4), while adding fun new features like base capturing and new characters to the mix. While the gameplay hasn't changed -that- much from previous entries in the series, enough new things (including all new stories and cutscenes for every single character) have been added to make purchasing DW5 a worthy propostion for hardcore fans (like myself), as well as making it a great starting point for new fans.

I really enjoyed this game and so does my child. The new characters added to DW 5 from DW 4 are very creative. We play the team play mode most of the time and also enjoy the challenge modes. The warriors names and the battles have been researched to be historically accurate. The game does not allow you to see very long range down field before the warriors are on top of you. Not much time to develop strategy. Taking that into consideration , it still is an overall great game. I would recommend to buy it.I really enjoyed this game and so does my child. this game is like not findable in any games store i went its like if it never existed. this is an old school game for you if you like the slash and bash type of games it has many map many weapon many caracter and ahs many many things to unlock and the map are vast! you can play up to 2 players and upgrade every caracter in the game ! the rest is yours to discover :)
