Chris McCormick (Margaux Hemingway) is a fashion model who is brutally raped by her sister's music teacher, Gordon Stuart (Chris Sarandon). • LIPSTICK is an interesting 80s movie that is still relevant today.

Lipstick is an 80s movie that was concerned very unPC at the time. Margot Hemingway is a model pushing lipsticks. Her younger sister, played by real-life sister, Mariel Hemingway, introduces her to her favorite teacher, Chris Sarandon. Sarandon goes to Margot's at her invitation to hear some of his music. During their meeting, Margot gets a call from her boyfriend. This sends Sarandon into a frenzy and he rapes her. Her sister comes home from school but doesn't know what has happened until her sister tells her. The police arrest Sarandon. At his trial, Margot's attorney, played by Anne Bancroft, works hard to prove Margot's story is correct, but Sarandon gets off anyway. This is a very good movie about why women don't report rapes. The acting is great. A shame that Margot ...

  • Much better than it had to be...

I hadn't seen Lipstick since it came out in 1976, when it was roundly panned by critics and audiences alike. As the premiere supermodel of the era, Margaux Hemingway was as ubiquitous as Naomi Campbell is now. And like many models who star in films, Margaux wasn't that great... but she wasn't that bad either. She was a top model playing a top model, so how hard could it be? Though her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard, she emotes quite admirably onscreen. Also starring Margaux's little sister Mariel Hemingway in an unforgettable performance from someone so young, Lipstick is a thriller that grips the viewer in its jaws, shaking it ferociously until the very satisfying, very bloody ending. Chris Sarandon (Susan Sarandon's ex) competently plays the creepy fiendish "musician" who ...

  • Deep movie

This is one of those movies you watch once then put away for a while and watch again and again. I saw the original and loved it this is a movie that makes mad and fired up, it takes you to days long past, if you are a Baby Boomer. Those good old bad old days of Disco and monster bell bottoms, huge afro hair and giant boom boxes. These are the days when a man could get away with rape because a girl was wearing a short skirt or tight jeans whether she said no or not. So sit back and get a cold drink because this one will bring on the heat under the collar and the chuckles at the cloths.

  • Memorable 70s movie

Note that this version of "Lipstick" was issued in 2003 on a DVD format. This is a fairly realistic movie of an adult nature (sex and violence). The acting was somewhat lacking but can be overlooked. Watching it takes you back to the 1970s. Although I wouldn't say it's a really good movie, it's one of those that haunts you for years afterwards when the Academy movies are long forgotten.
