Useful for elder care too
I was pleased with this product. It greatly assisted me in caring for my dear mother as she lived with dementia. Having this monitor was most helpful in allowing us to keep mom at home in her final months with us. The monitors had fine range from mom's room on the first floor to my room upstairs or anywhere in the yard, garage or in the street in front of the house. I didn't test the range further, as that was more than enough for our needs. i used the receivers plugged in while in the house but also on battery power while working in the yard or garden. I liked that they had clips to hang on to belt while moving around. I only used on battery power for 5-6 hours so not sure about how long they can run on a pair of AA's but I bet they wouldn't go through batteries very much at all. ... The unit's sensitivity is non adjustable,but seemed to be adequate for me. Volume on the monitors was loud enough to hear it over the tv but if you are running a vacuum cleaner you might not hear momma (or baby.) The build quality seemed very good. I did drop a monitor from my belt on a couple occasions with no harm done. Mom isn't needing us to monitor her anymore so I am going to find out what the resale value of the unit is in the coming days. Will update my review with sell price unless I flake out...

These audio monitors have crisp clear amplified sound, with great range. When we have to watch our sister's indoor dogs when they go on trips, we put a baby unit in their house, which is 400 feet away. The parent monitors will let you know if they do not have a connection to the baby/base unit. I buy only the DM111 series which allows the parent monitors to be powered by batteries or AC adapters. The newer DM112 series has eliminated the AC adapters for the parent units.These audio monitors have crisp clear amplified sound, with great range. Weak And Inconsistent Signal.
It's just great if you are only ten feet away...but if you are more than that distance away, it loses the signal. Horrible from 20 feet away, and horrible from 9 feet away with one wall between you. I wish I hadn't purchased this item.
