Fight for survival, in the role of a combatant for the European Union or the Pan-Asian Coalition, as a new ice age bears down on planet Earth in Battlefield 2142. There is a limited amount of land left uncovered by ice and snow, and the object of the game is to become owner of this land by defeating the opposing faction. You will make your moves on the front lines, as a soldier, or stay behind as a commanding officer to determine the strategies and tactics that those in the field. Each side is equipped with hi-tech weaponry and vehicles, including sentry guns, assault rifles, battle walkers, APCs, cloaking devices, as well as upgrades for weapons and abilities. As you unlock items and skills, you'll realize you can't equip them all at once, and must choose which to use in each battle. Battlefield 2142 holds room for 64 soldiers ready to fight for their existence through such environments as North Africa, Minsk, and the Suez Canal. Go to war in "Titan" mode, and be the first team to destroy the enemy Titan -- a large warship that equipped with heavy armor and lots of defenders. To destroy the Titan, the shields need to be disabled with missiles so your troops can enter the vehicle; once you make it inside, there are four security consoles that need to be destroyed before the reactor core becomes accessible. Destroy the core to win the match. The Battlefield 2142: Deluxe Edition features a fully updated version of the original game along with the booster pack Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike.

Five Stars! However, I'm being generous because I received the base game and not the Deluxe Edition. I am having a bunch of fun still seeing as I've wanted to play this for awhile and I'd still recommend it.

A fine tactical shooter
Like the other games in the Battlefield series (so I've heard) this is a primarily multi-player game. It is online only, so internet access is required, and broadband is recommended. For each round, all the players on a server choose one of four unique soldier classes, and then are more-or-less randomly divided into two even teams. From there players can form squads with their team mates to accomplish various objectives, mostly a variation of capturing and holding points on the map, or destroying stratigic emplacements. Another unique (at the time anyway) aspect of this game are "Titan Battles" where each team must capture missle silos in order to access the enemy's titan, a flying fortress ship. They must then choose to either board the titan and destroy it from the inside, or hold enough ... For every battle, one player per team can act as "commander," dispensing bonuses onto the map like sensors and artillery strikes. He gets a birds-eye view of the battlefield and can issue orders to individual players or squads to lead them to vicory. As a player becomes more proficient and gains points, they climb in rank. With each rank comes the ability to unlock an item, weapon, or augmentation that sticks with the player for life. It's a good, challenging first-person shooter. It has a few problems though. Many times it is difficult to find a good team that divides into good squads that actually work together. Generally, teams are 20-some individuals running around with their own agendas. When players work together and communicate effectively, this game is at it's best. When they don't, it's more of a huge scale deathmatch. PS. DO NOT buy this game used; not even slightly. Once a code has been registered, it cannot be registered again, and EA will charge 10 dollars to replace it.

ive Played Video games For Around 16 Years, This Is Top Of The Line, One Of The Best Games ive Played And Addictive still, Made by The Battlefield Line Of Games It Is Comparable To The Game {Bad company on XBOX 360} Yet {Bad Company You Must Pay to play and also has {only} one game type this has multiple selections for such more unlockables/ achievements and also better socializing options yet not required nevertheless. It Features Floating Tanks, Walkers, 5 Weapons For Each class you choose etc. 5 Stars Hand Down. Much Better Strategic Assault aswell. Great Game
This is an excellent game even for how old it is. One of my favorite parts is the team based game play that it has. It is possible to go lone wolf but u get way more points for playing in your squad following squad leaders commands and helping your team mates. Nothing like a team based game and if u change the resolution to the highest settings which u have to find online cause they're not included it looks even better. Its an all around great game.This is an excellent game even for how old it is. One of my favorite parts is the team based game play that it has. Le ragioni vanno cercate nelle capacità degli sviluppatori della Digital Illusions di aver codificato meglio di qualsiasi altra software-house, una meccanica di gioco impeccabile, ottimizzata per il gioco in multiplayer on-line. Un gameplay che, attraverso tre titoli principali (Battlefield, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2) ed una lunga serie di interessanti espansioni (tra cui The Road To Rome, Secret Weapons of WWII...), è stato continuamente perfezionato e cesellato, fino a diventare il gioiello di giocabilità che possiamo sperimentare in Battlefield 2 (d'ora in poi BF2). L'Era Glaciale Lo spunto narrativo alla base del concept di "Battlefield 2142" è una catastrofe ambientale che coinvolge il nostro pianeta in un futuro non molto lontano. In seguito ad una glaciazione che ha impoverito la Terra delle sue risorse e decimato la popolazione terrestre, i popoli superstiti dell'Unione Europea da una parte e della Coalizione Pan-Asiatica dall'altra, disputano una guerra furiosa nell'Europa dell'est e nel nord Africa per l'unica causa sensata: la sopravvivenza. Conferme Per spendere poche parole su "Battlefield 2142", lo si potrebbe descrivere come una sorta di espansione di BF2. Infatti, pur essendo uno stand alone, ripropone lo stesso gameplay e lo stesso comparto tecnico del secondo capitolo. Da un lato, ciò è sicuramente una conferma positiva: con BF2 i ragazzi della Digital Illusions hanno raffinato ulteriormente la già collaudata meccanica di gioco, aggiungendo innovazioni importanti (come il sistema gerarchico di squadre e i capo squadra) e giungendo ad un risultato di riferimento per il genere. Dunque per quanto riguarda il gioco vero e proprio, in "Battlefield 2142" ritroveremo la classica modalità Conquest, in cui ogni fazione si darà battaglia per prendere il controllo dei vari "punti caldi" della mappa e portare a zero i punti della fazione avversaria, con il consueto corredo di molteplici armi e mezzi bellici. Anche il notevole comparto tecnico di BF2 è stato qui confermato, e le richieste che tempo fa parevano così esose, oggi lo sembrano di meno. Ma la mera riproposizione di un titolo di successo non basta da sola a giustificarne l'acquisto e ciò è ben noto anche agli sviluppatori, i quali hanno ovviamente impreziosito la release di alcune interessanti innovazioni. Novità Abbandonata (per questo episodio) la fedele aderenza agli eventi storici, i programmatori hanno puntato ad un concept di fantasia, ambientando il gioco in un futuro non troppo lontano, ma credibile e realistico. Senza farsi prendere troppo la mano dalla sci-fi (raggi laser, robot, alieni), infatti, ci propongono un comparto di armi, mezzi e location futuribili, ma non fantascientifiche. Ritroveremo, sostanzialmente, le classi di armi già note ai giocatori di Battlefield, implementate con una tecnologia superiore; l'unica arma completamente nuova è la granata EMP, in grado di paralizzare i sistemi elettronici. Anche i mezzi non si discostano poi molto dalle tipologie già viste in precedenza, ad eccezione del mech Walker, che pur essendo una sorta di versione evoluta di un blindato, quando entra in scena fa sempre grande effetto.
