About this product

Product Information

The book that inspired a legend--the first novel in the bestselling saga of Redwall. Welcome to Mossflower Wood, where the gentle mice have gathered to celebrate a year of peace and abundance. All is well...until a sinister shadow falls across the ancient stone abbey of Redwall. It is rumored that Cluny is coming--Cluny, the terrible one-eyed rat and his savage horde--Cluny, who has vowed to conquer Redwall Abbey! The only hope for the besieged mice lies in the lost sword of the legendary Martin the Warrior. And so begins the epic quest of a bumbling young apprentice--a courageous mouse who would rise up, fight back...and become a legend himself. "The medieval world of Redwall Abbey--where gallant mouse warriors triumph over evil invaders--has truly become the stuff of legend."-- Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Exactly as advertised, PLUS...my much-anticipated purchase was EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-PACKAGED: a robust bubble-wrap sheet encased the book, which was sandwiched between two stout pieces of corrugated cardboard. All of this was enclosed within a thick plastic wrapper and securely taped closed. So, this Seller WENT THE EXTRA MILE to ENSURE THE BEST, SAFEST DELIVERY POSSIBLE. OUTSTANDING! THANK YOU for a GREAT ebay buying experience. I look very forward to another transaction with this WINNING SELLER!

    Redwall Books

Came across one of the Redwall Series books and was hooked immediately! There are a total of 22 books and I purchased the 1st 11 thru EBAY and will get the rest when I finish these. I am an older avid reader that enjoys reading and cruising and these books are perfect for these two activities.

  • Redwall

Brian Jacques bring his fully realized world of Redwall to life in his first novel that introduces the collection. A masterful storyteller, Jacques interweaves tales seamlessly and keeps you on edge page by page. Not only are the anthropomorphic woodland characters endearing and entertaining, they have unique personalities that Jacques has incorporated into his world, for each kind of creature. Also, Jacques ability to describe surroundings and happenings, twists, and turns, and paint pictures with his writing is amazing. Descriptions of feasts are mouthwatering! His poems and songs are wonderful! The entire effort put in to writing this novel is clearly evident on each page. I really love Jacques' Redwall books and I highly recommend the entire collection, starting with this one.

  • Get your kid a new hero!

BUY the unabridged audio for this and you will NEVER regret it. Brian reads it himself and he has every character voice down pat because they were all stuck in his head for so many years. His history in the BBC also makes his voice in mesmerizing and enchanting so much that you will have a hard time turning it off. You need to buy the Redwall series because the story plays out over a few chronicles so do not just buy the first in the series get the first three. It is a great pick for those who would like more adventure with less magic. It takes place with woodland creatures and could also be considered a coming of age story. • A great tale about the forest animal kingdom!

This book is good for the young and old alike. It's medieveal times meets animals. Set in an average forest full of monk voles, king badgers, and warrior mice fighting pirating rats, ferrets, and weasels, this is a great book for the whole family! It definately communicates good moral values and a sense of that old knightly "honor". If you want a preview of the book, try out the tv series that's on the local channels (ex. PBS). I grew up with the series, and it really is a delightful book to read!

  • Engaged me from the start!

I own the whole set, made the mistake of loaning out the first book. Never got it back, never loaned another. I thought maybe I would have out grown them at age 75, I haven't and I'm rereading the whole series!
