About this product

Product Information

Somewhere on board the luxury cruiser named Bermuda is the President's daughter. She is hiding, desperately afraid for her life. Miles away Navy SEALs are being briefed on the urgent situation: a group of pirates has hijacked a certain yacht where an important young girl happens to be passenger. The delicate nature of this mission demands the best of the best -- three of the most skilled members of the Navy SEALs will infiltrate the yacht from the air, by boat, or underneath the water to rescue the hostage.

Those who oppose them shall be dealt with extreme prejudice, as the crime they have committed threatens the security of the United States. The order from above is that each member may use whatever weapon he or she may run across to teach these vile thugs a lesson. Of course, time is of the utmost importance. Members must be as expedient as possible to ensure the safety of the hostage.

Dynamite Cop!, the sequel to 1996's Die Hard Arcade, features three characters trained in hand-to-hand and weapons-based combat: Captain Bruno Delinger, Sergeant Jean Ivy, and Corporal Eddie Brown. After deciding on your character, you'll be able to choose one of three missions that will take place within different areas of the ship. No matter which mission you select, the objective is to make your way through the vessel while fending off attackers with your fists, feet, or weapons.

Players will be able to use handguns, machine guns, bazookas, missile launchers, and even anti-tank rifles and triple bazookas. The various items inside each room can also be used as weapons, from standard chairs and tables to pepper shakers and cake! Each character also has health and power gauges at the top of the screen that serve as performance indicators.

Every time you suffer a blow, your health meter will gradually diminish. In order to keep fighting, you'll have to pick up items such as capsules, first aid kits, and drinks that will refill a portion of the meter. Characters low on health can also refresh their meters by successfully completing what is referred to as a "Visual Scene." In between combat segments are special cut-scenes that require you to tap a specific button or press the controller in a certain direction in order to influence the story.

For example, a scene may require you to push left on the directional pad to avoid a blow from an enemy; if you press the direction in time (the screen will notify you when you need to perform the action), you will avoid a battle and have your life meter replenished. If you miss the action, you will most likely have to face another opponent during the course of your adventure.

The power gauge at the top of the screen differs from the health meter in that it influences the strength of your attacks or combinations. Each enemy you defeat will leave behind a "P" or "S" icon that can be grabbed by your character. Collect five "P" items or one "S" item and your power gauge will turn green and start flashing -- this increases your attack strength for the duration of the flash.

Dynamite Cop! features two primary modes of play: Dynamite Cop and Dynamite Cop: Carribean Pirates, with the latter mode being a straightforward translation of the 1998 Arcade game. A third mode, Dynamite Cop: Showdown, will be unlocked once you have completed the other two modes. This new version offers three slightly different missions that are designed to be much harder than those in the first two modes.

While the locations are essentially the same, the following conditions will influence how well you perform: Mission 4 offers greater damage from enemy weapons; Mission 5 imposes a time limit for each room and removes the "S" items from play; and Mission 6 combines the features of Missions 4 and 5 but has you starting the game with reduced health.

Three bonus games are also available to play with, including an adaptation of a 1980 coin-op title called Tranquilizer Gu

    Arcade action

Picked up this game because I have fond memories of the arcades growing up. This game is short and can be beaten within an hour but it's an arcade game so that should be somewhat expected. Essentially it's a 3D brawler which has you beating up groups of bad guys as you run from area to area in an attempt to rescue the president's daughter. It's goofy in its own way but a lot of fun. Every area you enter into has a variety of things that can be used as weapons like throwing chairs or boxes and picking up guns and even rocket launchers. I'd recommend picking it up at a decent price, $15-$20 is a good figure. Anything more than that would be asking too much. If you're on the fence about it just check out a Youtube video of it.

  • Really good game for SEGA Dreamcast.

Dynamite Cop is a 1-2 player, 3D beat-em-up in the tradition of Final Fight and Streets Of Rage. You choose from one of three characters (plus a couple of secret ones) and pummel your way through room after room of thugs. The graphics and sound are decent, and retain the same feel as Diehard Arcade. The action is quite frantic compared to other games in the same genre, and it is a bit on the short side (it only takes about 15-20 minutes to beat), but Dynamite Cop does offer a few new fun elements. The ability to use almost anything as a weapon is one of the main draws of the game. Pistols, grenades, rocket launchers, tables, chairs, and even food can be utilized to dispose of opponents. Torturing the enemies with grapples and throws is also an extremely fun feature. It could have been ...

  • Dynamite Cop. Don't bother defusing this bomb.

I liked the arcade version of Die Hard. Dynamite Cop I believe is supposed to be the sequel to Die Hard Arcade, but at the time of its release Sega had lost the Die Hard license, so instead we have Dynamite Cop. I had never played Dynamite Cop prior to buying it. TBH, this game kind of blows. The game is extremely short. The controls are very loose, meaning you feel pretty disconnected from the beat em up action on screen. For Dreamcast standards, the graphics do not measure up. I felt like I was playing an N64 game. Though, this game isn't a complete steaming pile of junk. For the right price, it's not a bad game. I got it for under 10 bucks, which included shipping. I think that was a fair price for this game and what it offers. It has a cheesey, it's so ridiculous it's kind ...

  • Great action game.

This game has a whole lot of weapons, moves, and can even be played by 2 players. The game is short, meaning you'll beat it in less than an hour, but it is an arcade type of game, so that's not an issue. Plus it's pretty cheap on ebay; I bought it myself for about 12 dollars. Unlike a lot of beat 'em up games, Dynamite Cop doesn't get repetitive because the action is fast paced, and you got lots of weapons such as guns, pipes and even French bread (that sure is hard bread all right). Anything that you can grab onto is a weapon; I like how it makes you more resourceful. One of my favorite moves though is that piledriver. Doing that just felt priceless to someone in this game. Another fun move to do is grab the legs of an enemy while he is down and keep slamming him repeatedly.

  • Fun arcade style beatem up game.
