Nineteen-year-old Brooklyn native Tony Manero (Travolta) lives for Saturday nights at the local disco, where he's king of the club, thanks to his stylish moves on the dance floor. Nor can he find satisfaction at his dead-end job at a paint store. However, things begin to change when he spies Stephanie (Karen Lynn Gorney) in the disco and starts training with her for the club's dance competition. Stephanie dreams of the world beyond Brooklyn, and her plans to move to the big city just over the bridge soon change Tony's life forever. This portrait of young Brooklyn natives struggling to escape their sheltered lives for freedom and adventure in the big city of Manhattan defined a generation of disco dancers and 1970s youths rebelling against the more traditional expectations of their parents. Not much to say about this fine movie on DVD. It plays very well and the picture is sharp and clear. The audio sounds great. The widescreen is a plus. This movie on dvd should be in everyone's library..that's if you're a John Travolta fan.

I still have Saturday Night Fever!!!
I received 25th anniversary edition of Saturday Night Fever dvd sometime in March 2013. It's as good as I remember it back in the day. Badham's direction is superb, the script is well-written, and the actors execute it with precision. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this great film since last March. The funny or weird thing is that I remember watching the broadcast version mainly in all the years before last year. When I watched this cool 25th anniversary edition, I noticed a lot of profanity, racism, and drug use too. The movie is fun to watch with either version however. The strongest parts for me is the Bee Gees music as well as the dancing, and Travolta's character Tony. The film is basically a musical without trying to look like a musical, if that makes any sense. There are so many good points it's hard to cover them all. The story and characters are engaging. The acting superb. The music is awesome and John Travolta knocked this role completely out of the park! Highley recommended!
