This expansion pack for Blizzard's 2002 real-time strategy game is designed to build upon many of the key features that made the third WarCraft game a critical and popular success. As in WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos, the single-player campaign of The Frozen Throne puts players in command of each of the four races in turn. The add-on begins where the main game left off, with the Night Elves, then moves to the Humans, and ends with the Undead. The Orcs follow their own separate, stand-alone campaign, specially developed to make use of the expansion's new World Editor features.<br><br>Many months have passed since the climactic battle at Mount Hyjal in Reign of Chaos. Any true peace in the land is short-lived, however. Already a new threat grows, in the far-off, frozen lands of Northrend. Though the Lich King Ner'zhul now has no physical form, the power of his evil spirit endures, deep in the frozen heart of the Icecrown glacier. The fallen paladin Arthas and the renegade Night Elf Illidan, both survivors of the devastating warfare of the original game, return in this expansion pack, to again cast their dangerous influence on the fate of Azeroth. <br><br>Three new tilesets are added by The Frozen Throne, all with their own flora and fauna (including new critters appropriate to each environment). Each race gains new units and one new hero character. Neutral heroes are available as well, for a price. New units and their special abilities are designed to complement the particular strengths of their existing armies, and were created to offer new strategies while maintaining the delicate balance of powers among the four races. A number of new multiplayer maps are also included in the add-on, as well as expanded Battle.net support for clans, tournaments, and more multiplayer game types.

    Warcraft3: The Frozen Throne For PC

    I bought this game after reading many great reviews of its Addictingly Fun Competetive Gameplay ( Online ). I really wasnt convinced it had anything to offer except for a remodel of all of the other Real Time Strategy Games. Boy Was I Wrong, I havent been this impressed with a game Ive purchased in over 10 years. The Campaign Mode Was Challenging and I found myself on the edge of my seat on every mission, Not only that the story line was amazing, And that isnt very common in video games, Normally the story is thought up in a matter of days and the voice overs and text is very bland, all you get with most games are generic phrases you would hear in any War Based RTS and the story line would be extremely predictable. But that was NOT the case here. At times the story line was so deep that ...

    Battle.net makes this game fun to play forever

    Warcraft III is a timeless RTS that has endless hours of replay value due to the Custom Maps feature. Being able to play custom-built maps online with the Battle.net community is the shining feature of this game, and getting The Frozen Throne expansion is key to getting full value out of the experiance. Plus, TFT lets you play Defense of the Ancients, the most popular custom map of all time. Recommended for anyone who enjoys real-time strategy - especially if you liked Starcraft.

    Great rts game

    Frozen throne is the expansion to Reign of Chaos. Both great games. Frozen throne adds more balance and new heroes and units to Reign of Chaos. This game is now almost 7 years old (2009), and it still has tons of fans and players playing on battle.net around the clock. You can also use the map editor and create your on custom games and play them online as well. Big plus is that online play at battle.net is absolutely FREE. Create an account and begin playing with other people online. No monthly fee.

    Frozne throne - the expansion to a hot game

    Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is the expansion to the hot game Warcraft III. There are a few new units to the game such as hill giants for the night elfs. Every race gets a new hero to use as well. The new campaign is hours of fun. If you want to get into Warcraft lore I would strongly recomend this game. If you want a great game to pass the time I would still recomend WC3 FT. There is a vast maping community online with countless maps available to provide hours of play.

    Worthy Expansion.

    If you enjoyed vanilla Warcraft 3 (Reign of Chaos) you will absolutely love The Frozen Throne expansion. It gives you a new campaign, more units, and heroes. The custom games on battle.net made on Frozen Throne are phenomenal if not alone worth the entire cost of the game. PROS: + new heroes + new units + new features + new campaign + Standard military units now have the backpack feature via upgrade which allows them to carry and use items! + the best of custom games on battle.net were designed on The Frozen Throne. + WORKS FOR BOTH MAC AND PC CONS: - The game isn't already installed on your computer! OTHER THOUGHTS: Blizzard never lets you down. Well... except for the time Blizzard promised us Starcraft II years ago... =]
