The OS, Sigma s anti shake feature offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. The OS feature allows Sony and Pentax users the option of viewing a stabilized image in the viewfinder, a feature offered only by Sigma.

    Sharp compact fast quick and quiet

    All I could say is it is much better than the 16-50 F2.8 from Pentax. The HSM from Sigma is much more reliable than the amateur SDM from Pentax. Much quicker, faster response, higher af accuracy provide sharper image with light weight and more compact size. Most of all Sigma is cheaper in price, but not quality. I have both Pentax and Sigma and these r my opinion. This Sigma travels with me worldwide, while the Pentax stay home as I have always afraid Pentax might stall midway.

    Excellent choice for the Pentax Shooter

    Absolutely fantastic lens that's very usable wide-open, and is ideal at F/4-5.6. I'll break this down into Pros and Cons. Pros - build quality is great - good heft that balances nicely with a grip - HSM AF is quiet an reliable - image quality is comparable to primes in the 20-45mm range Cons - a little heavy without a camera grip in terms of balance - filters are expensive for that large front element - manual focus ring is lacking - no aperture ring for those that care (not a con for me) - colors lean towards the safe and sane for JPEGs (but we all PP anyway) Overall great lens that is in the same category from an image quality standpoint as the Pentax 16-50, and the Tamron 17-50. Pentax users don't have the quantity of lens choices as those in the Nikon/Canon world, but all you ...

    Excellent!

    This is an excellent lens for Pentax APS-C lens! Very sharp pictures, and the auto focus is super fast as well! When compared to my new full frame Canon 6D with the 24-105 lens, the pictures are difficult to discern. Very good value!

    Crystal clear sharp with silent AF

    This lens is very flexible being a full range 2.8. It really let's in a lot of light. The resolution is absolutely crisp on my K-3 and the AF is fast and silent, amazing. It is a little big and heavy; that is the trade-off. I think this will be my new favorite lens. To compare I have a prime 35 and prime 50 which are much smaller and lighter. The situation will dictate which I use, needing tele or not.
