Brothers Ray and Dave Davies and their bandmates formed in 1964 London, and soon cultivated an inventive, post-Beatles pop sound that helped defined England's "Mod" youth culture movement and was a major part of the so-called "British Invasion." Over the following decades of constant music production, the band continued to innovate and alter their sound. ONE FOR THE ROAD is a fantastic musical record of the Kinks' musical influence and growth. The British Invasion At It's Best
The Kinks are a classic rock band hailing from Great Britain, reeling out massive hits including Lola, All Day And All Of The Night, You Really Got Me, and a host of others. Their career spanned the early 60's all the way through the mid 1990's. In 1979 while supporting the album Low Budget, the Kinks recorded One For The Road in both LP and video formats. This DVD cleanly brings back to life the energy and wonder of The Kinks. From Dave Davies workman like efficiency with lead guitar, to Ray Davies enthusiasm and brilliance as a composer, you get a delicious taste of The Kinks. Ray Davies recently recorded a solo album and is currently touring and playing shows with the same voracity as this show nearly 30 years ago. I used to own this live concert on VHS until it lived out it's useful ... The DVD arrived on the day of Ray's show. I relived that sound from 1979, and then headed out to find that the genius song-writer, now in his mid 60's, is as talented and entertaining as ever. This is a must have DVD for any Kinks fan, with a fun commentary track by Dave Davies. It is a should have item for any music fan as well!

NO THANKS
I've been a Kinks fan for 35+ years. First of all, the concert is very brief. Most songs were taken from The Low Budget LP, not one of their best LP's in my opinion. Although the video and audio is excellent, it really doesn't matter if the performers don't hold up their end. Ray's singing is mediocre and the harmonies are sometimes bordering on awful. The bright spot is Dave's guitar work. They tend to hurry through these songs like they are late for the bus. The crowd was great given what they received. They have better work out there now but still not great. Take a rain check on this one. There is a lack of high quality Kinks DVD's and they annoy me just like Bob Seger because they must have great material on film somewhere after all these years.I've been a Kinks fan for 35+ years. Blast from the past
These are The Kinks as they were on stage. All the raw energy and antics are brilliantly brought to the people watching the show. Wether you've seen The Kinks in person, or this is your first exposure to the mayhem, this show will become a favorite for wayching over and over. This is truly one for the road to get your punk motors turned on.

i bought this as a gift for my youngest brother...he is a new kinks fan and i wanted him to see the kinks ...this IS A GOOD VID OF THEM IN THEIR GREAT RESURGENCE. it has some classics . when i saw them live in milw. ray was passing beer out to the audience much to the chagrin of the security ...
