About this product

Product Information

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action. For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the Sliver of Infinity, reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison. Kelsier snapped and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark. Kelsier recruited the underworld's elite, the smartest and most trustworthy allomancers, each of whom shares one of his many powers, and all of whom relish a high-stakes challenge. Only then does he reveal his ultimate dream, not just the greatest heist in history, but the downfall of the divine despot. But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel's plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life. Like him, she's a half-Skaa orphan, but she's lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed. This saga dares to ask a simple question: What if the hero of prophecy fails? Exactly as advertised, PLUS...my much-anticipated purchase was EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-PACKAGED: a robust bubble-wrap sheet encased the book, which was sandwiched between two stout pieces of corrugated cardboard. All of this was enclosed within a thick plastic wrapper and securely taped closed. So, this Seller WENT THE EXTRA MILE to ENSURE THE BEST, SAFEST DELIVERY POSSIBLE. OUTSTANDING! THANK YOU for a GREAT ebay buying experience. I look very forward to another transaction with this WINNING SELLER!

    Worth the read

Some of the fighting threw me off at first, and Sanderson is repetitive with adjectives, but overall the author put a lot of thought and consideration into the plot. I like the characters a lot as well.

  • Sanderson Begins a Powerful Trilogy with Mistborn

Take a typical fantasy story with a hero and a quest to save the world; now, imagine that the hero failed - what would happen next? What is good, and what is evil? Can evil arise from good, and vice versa? These are some of the questions asked by Brandon Sanderson in Mistborn, as he builds a complex world around heroes, anti-heroes, and everything in between. The book is enjoyable to read, with tons of action, a unique and complex magic system, and great character development. Perhaps Sanderson's biggest strength is his ability to describe events in such detail that you can easily envision them happening, without slowing down the pace of the story. Even though the action is often completely fantastical, you will be able to envision the characters, their magic being used, and the ...

  • Mistborn

This is a nice paperback copy of Mistborn, the first in the Mistborn trilogy, by Brandon Sanderson. There is a little wear on the corners of the binding but overall a well taken care of novel. The story, though, is amazing. Mr. Sanderson tells of a young girl who, after a mistreated childhood, learns of her rare powers. The tale continues with how she uses these powers, to attempt in overthrowing the oppressive government. I am an avid reader and I highly recommend any reader to give it a try.

  • Excellent

Sanderson has taken a (somewhat) cliche genre and created something refreshing, entertaining and thought provoking. Admittedly, I do enjoy a sword-swinging fantasy story as much as the next girl, but it is wonderful to read a book that strays from typical plot lines. The system of magic is unique, and the political intrique is captivating. Sanderson has put forth much thought in the construction of his characters. Beware, this is the first of a trilogy and you WILL be hooked. Fortunately, the last installment will be available October 14th, 2008. I decided to read Sanderson's work because he will be completing Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series and was pleasantly surprised to find that Sanderson seems a good candidate to do so.

  • Great read! Excited to start book 2!
