About this product

Product Information

AURA BATTLER DUNBINE was a huge success in mid-1980s Japan and is recognized as one of the classics from the "golden age" of televised Anim. The series follows motocross racer Shou Zama as he finds his destiny in Byston Well, a world that exists in the spaces between sea and land. Brought there to pilot a robot weapon known as an Aura Battler for Byston Well leader Drake Luft, Shou is immediately skeptical. His suspicions are confirmed when Drake makes it clear he intends to take over the Earth, prompting Shou to try and defect back to the other side so that he can help save the planet. This introductory volume features the sci-fi Anim series' first five episodes.

  • What a true find.

I did the original fansub of this anime back in the days of Laser discs and S-VHS tapes. I was glad that ADV released it but I was disappointed on how they released it and made it so difficult to get the last volumes. So when I found this auction for a box set with a couple skippy discs for a good price, I jumped on it. The individual volumes can be purchased cheap enough up to volume 10. So, it was easy for me to find replacements for the "skippy" discs from this particular boxset I bought. So, now about the product. Holy craap! At first, I thought this thing was a bootleg! The DVD jackets look so faded and crappy and photocopy like. But I thought, maybe that was just from this box set. Then the loose DVDs which I ordered from 3 different sellers came in. It ...

  • Typical late 70s early 80s anime. Robotech meets D&D.

I just started the series, so it is really too soon to judge it. The show is an odd combination of fantasy and robots. Wonder who thought that up? I recently just started collecting the aura battler models (remember them from when I was a kid, but my dad would not let me get any because he knew he would be the one to put them together - LOL) and did not realize they were based off a show. So I thought I would give it a try.
