When she meets the Irish rogue Tom Lefroy (James McAvoy, THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND), she initially can't stand him, but their romance blooms, serving as the inspiration for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.Director Julian Jarrold (KINKY BOOTS) is no stranger to literary fare. Though BECOMING JANE is only his second feature film, he directed several productions for British television, including GREAT EXPECTATIONS, CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, and WHITE TEETH.     becoming jane is better in blu!

    Becoming Jane is a good romance movie set in the early 1800's. It's not completely historically accurate but this story about the great english author Jane Austin is alot of fun. This flick is very entertaining with fine performances from the whole cast. Anne Hathaway , and James McAvoy have great chemistry together as young romantic suitors and we don't know for sure if this situation inspired Jane to become the great author she later became. But this is still a good story and a good movie to watch with your loved one. On blu ray the movie shines even brighter too. The period costumes and sets come to life in 1080p and add to the whole movie experience greatly. All in all this is a good movie for viewers of all ages and I would say that any movie out there looks better on blu ...

    Wonderful!

    The music and cinematography alone are enough to earn this film an A+; they both should have been nominated for Academy awards! James McAvoy is engaging as Jane Austen's one love and undoubtedly the model for Darcy. Her personal story IS all of her books wrapped into one and the viewer is left with the true heartbreak that much of Austen's world of class and propriety must have caused.

    Anne becoming Jane

    This DVD is a fictional account of writer Jane Austin's life. Wonderfully written and entertaining. Anne Hathaway plays a young Austin quite convincingly but when James McAvoy enters a scene he usually steals it. Highly recommended if you are a Austin fan as this story suggest how her early life might have influenced her pen.
