About this product

Product Information

In Adventure players navigate a 2D maze-like world to locate and return the Enchanted Chalice to the Golden Castle. A number of helpful items can be used along the way: a bridge, a magnet, a sword, and keys to the castles where the chalice might be hidden. Standing in your way are three different colored dragons: Yorgle the Yellow Dragon, Grundle the Green Dragon, and Rhindle the Red Dragon who are of various speeds and ferociousness. There is also a black bat that enjoys stealing objects.

Adventure has three levels of play. Level one provides a basic layout of the Kingdom and only contains two castles and two dragons. Level two is more difficult and larger and has all three dragons, but objects will always be in the same place. Level three randomly scatters all objects and dragons around the kingdom, which provides varying degrees of difficulty.

The difficulty settings can also be adjusted. The left difficulty switch controls the reaction speed of the dragons (the A position means they will bite down faster), and the right difficulty switch controls the dragons' fear of the sword (in the A position, the dragons will run from the sword, making it more difficult to kill them).

    A classic!

Adventure is an early example of a Zelda style game. Being atari 2600, the graphics are very primitive. Your character is just a little square that moves around. The game play consists of finding keys to open gates, with the goal being to return the goblet to the yellow castle. Simple but fun, well worth a play through even in 2017!

  • The first graphic adventure game

Aww, this game was so much fun, you could play it for hours when it first came out. There was no other game like it! Castles, Dragons, sword, mazes, keys, etc. There are different skill levels to play, but looking back there wasn't much of a challenge, even to kill the dragons with your sword was pretty easy. Also worth mentioning is that you are just a little square block. The sword is evenlarger than you are. Worth playing this game was for the "Secret message" or Easter Egg in the game. The first known to all videogames. Take the bridge into the Black Castle, find the secret doorless room and use the bridge to get the tiny "DOT", take the tiny dot to the screen with the thin black line on the edge, it's close to your yellow castle. The if another object is on this screen you will be ...

  • Atari Adventure - VCS cartridge review

This was probably the best adventure game on the Atari, an early easter egg included as well where you can find the designers name WITHIN THE GAME (by use of finding a dot in a secret room) This game is a lot of fun - terrible graphics, even worse sound effects, but GREAT replay value!! For the time it was a lot of fun. It should still be a lot of fun now. Just a great game Works VERY well within its limitations!! Inspired a homebrew sequel (Adventure II) that is MUCH MUCH harder than level 3!!

  • Atari Adventure

After many years, I purchased Adventure for the Atari 2600 having remembered that it was one of the first truly classic video games with an adventure type theme, i.e.castles, swords, gold and dragons. Although the graphics seem primitive by today's video game standards, the game offers a certain charm that is virtually non-existent in today's games, and frankly, that can't be duplicated. Your character is on a quest to retrieve the gold chalice that is missing from the one of three castles. There is it guarded by dragons that can eat you alive! There are mazes, and on the harder levels even more intricate passageways, as well as numerous accessories, including a magnet, a sword, and a bridge. I recommend Adventure to a classic video game enthusiast.

  • Juego de Culto

Excelente Juego para todo coleccionista. Es famoso y conocido por ser el primer juego en esconder un Easter Egg ;).... no puede faltar en ninguna repisa de un coleccionista Old School
