American family life as seen by Hollywood in the 'fifties, funny if bland.
The scripts and plots are rather inconsistent, compared to some of it's competitors (classic Leave it to Beaver, for instance) but the supporting players are very adept and Donna, for an Oscar winner, isn't bad. She and Barbara Billingsly could have a charming but bland contest, but that was TV programming in the 'fifties! The writers and producers project some decent values and ethical behavior, and provided some solid humor, too. You'll never see a person of color on any of the sitcoms of that time, nor very much controversy, as was so profound in the classic 'seventies shows, but... they are very satisfactory in their own genre, and we will order some more. One shouldn't forget that Shelly Fabares (niece to actress Nanette Fabray) had a number one charted song, "Johnny Angel" for over ... Reliving my childhood
I always did like down and read and watching the shows I may have missed a forgotten as an older adult bring back wonderful memories. Jeff reminds me of my grandson and Mary reminds me of my granddaughter. Donna and Alex I like the parents I wish I had fair and honest caring and hospital and usually teaching by example.

Watching this show is just as traveling back to the better time and place that we miss so bad in our world today. It consists of great clean funs and humors that come along with morality and family value. I cannot recall that I have seen such high standard of entertainment quality over the last few decades. I am in the early 40's and don't think that this show is out of date. It is the great classic that they no longer make or be able to match with on today's entertainments. The stories were well written, the casts performed well on every level. I just wished that we can turn back the clock when life was that simple and society held higher values in life on every regard. This show brings back those tastes that we sadly miss these days. Get these series while you can. The ... One of best TV shows
The Donna Reed Show is one of my very favorites. If I need to relax and forget the stress of daily life, I can watch one of the shows and find enjoyment that's hard to find in the newer shows on TV. There were moral lessons and high standards on The Donna Reed Show, which is rare in modern television.
