Product Information

Fly-fishing figures prominently in this poignant tale of two brothers growing up in Montana in the early 20th century under the stern rule of their minister father. While both boys rebel, Norman (Craig Sheffer) channels his rebellion into writing, but Paul (Brad Pitt) descends onto a slippery path of self-destruction. The beautiful scenery of Montana is used to full effect with the awesome cinematography of Philippe Rousselot. Directed by Robert Redford, this adaptation of Norman Maclean's classic autobiography also features Tom Skerritt and Brenda Blethyn as the Reverend and Mrs. Maclean.

    A great setting and family story!

    I’ll keep my review vague as to not spoil the movie too much. First and foremost I enjoyed the cinematography - beautiful setting and great job creating the early 20th century Montana and the Blu-Ray really brings this out (somewhat). The story line was good and I liked the fact it was based on a true story. It was an intriguing family tale but with a somewhat predicable outcome. Brad Pitt was developing his talent and was not quite there; you’d only notice this if you are attuned to his later works. I'd say he took what he learned here and used that in his outstanding performance in Legends of the Fall. The great things with these 90's movies is the fact that it is near the end of the great stories told with the human condition era. These movies did not rely on ridiculous special ...
