Base holds the knife well with strong magnets. Product works as advertised and provided some very sharp knives after about 10 passes on each side. It would have been nice if the tumbler was a little bigger, as my kitchen knifes sit just above the height of the tumbler, however I put a book under the tumbler so it passed properly over the knife edge.
