    • Superb Film Noir Box Set!!!

This is one of the BEST collections of Film Noir out there. I cannot reccommend this enough. If you like film noir, especially lesser known noirs, GET THIS!! I was born in San Francisco so I'm partial to 'The Sniper' and 'The Line-Up' because they are both beautifully filmed in SF, but ieven if I wasn't, the cinamatography is wonderful and the plots are 100% noir. I love Eli Wallach in 'The Line-Up', I had only really known him as Tuco Ramirez in 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly', which he did an amazing job, and here he is 10 years earlier shining just as brightly as 'Dancer' the psychopathic hitman on a deadly mission. Of course, this collection of films also has the absolute gem that is "The Big Heat". Fritz Lang was a master director and this is no doubt one of his finest films. So, ...

    • Great set but not entirely true noir as the box set indicates

A terrific "lineup" of crime classics from the fifties. The Sniper and The Big Heat are the two bonafide noir classics in this set. I would argue that both The Lineup and Murder by Contract are NOT actual film noirs. They are excellent crime dramas but do not have the typical noir cinematography that us noir addicts desire. 5 Against the House is mostly successful thanks to Brian Keith's performance as a post Korea head case trying to fit in as a college student! Pin up fans will want to freeze frame the gorgeous shot of Kim Novak's leg in her dressing room. Now that's something to lead a real college cheer.

    • All the titles have been great. Great filmwork at it's best.

Just love most film-noir movies, compared to the stuff they are putting out today, it's film making and directing at it's best. The characters, the plots, the backgrounds. Awesome watching, and extremely entertaining watching these directors and actors from the 30's, 40', and 50's. One is never disappointed watching these!! They are precious gems, to be savored.!!!
