    About this product

    Product Information

Director Ridley Scott's hauntingly prescient vision of the not-too-distant future stars Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, a retired police assassin, or "blade runner." The Los Angeles of 2019 is a dark, polluted, overcrowded dystopia dominated by cloud-piercing buildings and looming neon billboards, the air dense with acid rain and flying traffic. World-weary Deckard has been called out of retirement to liquidate four escaped "replicants"--genetically derived androids of great strength, intelligence, and nearly-human emotion who serve as slaves and prostitutes in the off-planet colonies. Led by Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer), they've come to Los Angeles to confront their designer, Eldon Tyrell (Joe Turkel), with their unhappiness about the brevity of their four-year life span. In the course of his search, Deckard becomes romantically entwined with Tyrell's lovely assistant, Rachael (Sean Young), and must eventually confront Batty in an unforgettable rain-soaked sequence. A highly influential fusion of the science fiction and noir genres based on the novel DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP? by Philip K. Dick, this postmodern film boasts astonishingly rich art direction, juxtaposing ingenious technological gadgetry with yellowing photographs and fetishistic objets d'art as it touches on questions of time, memory, identity, and mortality.

        Blade Runner Review

Blade Runner is my all time favorite film. Great story adapted well to the screen. Film design is extraordinary. Holds up visially after all these years. The music enhances the film in perfect harmony with the design's film noiresqe quality. Of couse, Harrison Ford was dashing as usual, but Rutgar Hauer stole the film as Roy. It is Rutgar Hauer's Tears in The Rain scene that makes the movie my favorite.

favorite version with Vangelis musical back ground

the only reason I ordered this complete Blade Runner because it had theatrical version with the Vangelis music. I don't understand why this version is so hard to find by itself.

      • Great deal!

Theatrical edition, which was my main reason for buying, was in immaculate condition! As a side note, there was a small piece of plastic broken from one of the disc holder areas - not a big deal, but just a little surprise when first opening in case anyone else hears a little shaking when they open theirs. Thank you for the great product! :)

      • The film of all sci-fi films!

Hands down one of the most immersive films to ever grace the screen, so glad I got this collectors edition!

      • Timeless classic

Recommended for anyone who likes futuristic action. Probably Rutger Hauer's best movie role. The theatrical release is easier to understand and follow because of the narration at key points. Once you know the story you can go for the director's cut. Do be warned that it's rated R for a reason, the violence is pretty harsh in a couple of brief scenes. But the story line is still entertaining to watch even for the third time and the visual effects are top notch even by today's standards. And I'm a bit of a sucker for Vangelis music.
