      VERY happy that the camera was repaired in a timely manner to full functionality, and that the Automatic Cruise Control function was restored. There was no need to re-calibrate the system. The dealer diagnosis was to replace the camera, the coax cable and the controller and recalibrate the system. Needless to say - a repair of the camera was a MUCH better solution!

      This is an ACC (adaptive cruise control)...

      This is an ACC (adaptive cruise control) camera. These cameras sit in the sunlight at the top of the windshieid and the surrounding areas are black. The heat and vibration cause the video processor chip to come unsoldered. The fix is to remove the camera, expose the chip and apply heat while shielding the rest of the printed circuit board. This car is an Audi A8L now ten years old and 110,000 miles. Since virtually all new cars have these cameras this will be a big problem as they age.
