        Essential Viewing for Most

        Retelling the life story of the physicist who headed up the lab which developed the A-bomb, this is a long, character-focused meditation on the relative value of scientific research and discovery, the justice—and injustice—of American Cold War politics and the neverending challenges of balancing personal commitments against unbridled ambition. Featuring a star-studded cast, this is also a typical Nolan film, meaning it features pathbreaking cinematography, complex and nuanced storytelling…and sometimes less than stellar soundscaping. All in all, this is must-see cinema for anyone interested in the American experience of WWII or wanting to understand the realities of living in a world with nuclear weapons. FIVE STARS
