Known as IDA for short, this feature can rev up the performance of the CPU for single thread programs. By switching the load from one processing core to the other and putting the first to rest, energy is saved. This helps the Core T7400 save resources without sacrificing activity levels. To make matters even better, this chip is created with the Intel Hyper-Threading technology built right in. Most modern applications run multiple threads at the same time, and Hyper-Threading has this covered. It routs multiple processing threads to each different core, allowing you to get more done. The Intel Core Duo T7400's Hyper-Threading capacity comes in handy in situations where virtual technology is involved. Virtualization tools consist of a suite of hardware-based features that optimize the operation of virtualization applications. Having this capability works to improve the operation of virtual machines in several ways. Intel Core Virtualization capability provides you with the ability to run multiple operating systems simultaneously on the same device.     Best value upgrade for old quality hardware

    Upgraded from a Core Duo T2050, which is a 32-bit CPU, on a 2007 laptop. This was for a laptop with DDR2 3GB RAM. Installed Lubuntu and now, I use the old but well-built laptop hardware for heavy internet browsing. This CPU also ran cooler (may be 3-4 degC) and hence the old loud fan revs up at least 20 times less often. The top of the line CPU was T7600 (2.33 GHz), but that was still absurdly high-priced. T7400 turned out to be great value. Also, a sachet of cheap thermal compound was included and I went with that. If I had used Arctic Silver, I'm sure it would have run even cooler, may be 2 degC cooler.

    When these CPUs first came on the market, they cost hundreds of dollars. Now you can count the dollars they sell for on one hand. That's not an unusual technology cost curve, but it still amazes me. What first impressed me about this unit was how it was packaged. Even the package sealing tape on the box was immaculate — applied with the precision of a master packager. Someone really cared about how this little box was sealed and labeled. Inside, the CPU was safely packaged in anti-static foam to protect the delicate pins, and in anti-static foil. Installation. I've answered the question 'Is it easy to install?' with 'no,' because to answer 'yes' would be misleading. The truth is, installing the CPU was the easiest thing I've ever done.     Works perfectly, brand new, excellent cpu replacement for older Intel iMac or PC.

    Intel C2 Duo T7400 Upgrade

    I purchased this to upgrade an old Mac Mini model A1176 from a T2300 1.5Ghz 32bit cpu to the 2.16Ghz Cpu. You have to disassemble the entire computer to get to it, but with just the twist of a screw 1/2 turn, you can swap them out. Must add new thermal paste because the old stuff is usually junk. This is a huge upgrade. makes it at least 3x as fast as it was, Especially the L3 cache size, really helps. I have done quite a few of these and have never had one fail on me. I have never got a dead one, and they are rock solid. I think they would basically run forever. It is about 2x the cost of the T7200 but the speed boost is well worth the extra $10.     Check your clock!

    the previous one went into trash after miss-matching clock rate didn't fit the board. this one with 667 MHz does work. the speed gain is minimal but it runs cooler than before.
