The Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System is an integrated system of components designed to transform a television room into a home theater with a few simple setup steps. The Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System includes a powered DVD player/receiver, five speakers, and a subwoofer all created to work together. Included in the Sony DAV-DZ170 model home theater system is an integrated DVD player and receiver, a passive subwoofer, a center channel speaker, and four satellite speakers. The Sony DAV-DZ170 includes speaker wires, an FM wire antenna, and an easy setup DVD video disc to make connecting and tuning the system easy and fast. The Sony DAV-DZ170 even comes with two AA batteries for the IR wireless remote control so that everything can be up and running quickly. The system includes a microphone for digital cinema auto calibration for the accurate tuning of the speakers to the room. The Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System has a USB port that allows the connection of a USB thumb drive or an iPod through the iPod’s dock-to-USB cable. Bravia Theatre Sync simplifies remote operation when combining compatible Sony Bravia devices such as televisions. The player/receiver plays audio CDs, video DVDs, MP3 CDs, and JPEG files on a CD. Output resolution is selectable from 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Standard DVDs are upconverted to near high definition, and the system features built-in Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS audio processing. The six-channel amplifier divides its 1000 watts of power by delivering 167 watts to each of five speakers and an additional 165 watts to the subwoofer. The back panel houses inputs for stereo, coaxial, and optical digital equipment. Video outputs include composite video, component video, and HDMI. The receiver is 17 inches wide, 2 5/8 inches high, and 15 ¼ inch deep. The 5.1 setup creates theater-quality surround sound that uses the surround programming from each media type to place sound and audio type in the right place. In other words, voices and radio traffic on the left of a movie image are increased on that side of the room, and the entire experience of surround sound is elevated as the feeling of mobile sounds come to life through the speakers. The Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System is designed to integrate a DVD player, amplifier, and receiver with a component system that includes speakers and a subwoofer that support 5.1 surround sound. The Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System includes helpful accessories such as the included speaker cable, a microphone for digital cinema auto calibration, and Sony Bravia compatibility to control other Sony Bravia devices from a single remote. All of the electronics in this Sony home theater package are designed and tuned to work together, so there is no guess work when connecting components or pairing amplifiers to speakers. All of the accessories, cables, wires, and speakers are made to not only work together but to work seamlessly with other Sony Bravia devices as well. Ease of installation, compatibility, and integrated surround sound components make the Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel Home Theater System an attractive home theater option.

    competes with sepate component systems but less hassel

    I've owned just about every one of these all in one systems and I can say that when they are set up properly, using the correct speakers and placed in the correct positions, they all can produce some quality sound and have amazing volume from a very scaled down system. What you will not have to deal with is a bunch of cords and connectors which could cost you as much as this entire system, you also will not have to rethink your entire living room just to find a place to set it up. What you will get is a quality sound and picture with plenty of volume coming from speakers that are about 1/10 of the size you would expect to have if you did not see them you would not be able to guess they were so small.     Rebuilt Can be Better Than Being Replaced

    The sound and visual quality of this home theater system is wonderful. I had a very similar machine that had some sound difficulties with it. The replacement unit was rebuilt and renewed by the seller who did a remarkable job in restoring the unit to near new factory quality.

    Great receiver for the money

    This unit is not made out of chipboard, as eBay put this negative review on this listing by mistake. It is all metal and plastic. It works excellent. Great surround sound .

    what's in the box !

    for what you will pay you will not loose out, now here's the but that you knew was coming, this unit only has a HDMI out, so if you are looking for a unit that you can run your PS3 or Xbox or what ever you have , forget it. only component audio in that's it . so make sure with anything you buy that it is what you want, don't buy on an impulse, use the internet to look up the unit you want and look at the back of it to see what connections it comes with. that's all I'm saying thanks! hope this helps!
